From Jalopnik...

Business Week's David Kiley became the latest embargo Twitterbomber, spilling the beans on Ford's plans to bring the all-new 7-passenger Grand Focus C-Max to the US market in 2011. Others then let loose with photos. Here's everything that's out there.

The new Grand C-Max is based on the forthcoming Focus platform, and will come with the latest and most diminutive member of the Ecoboost family, the 1.6 liter I-4. Obviously it's got a set of sliding doors, three rows of seating and a sound system by Sony, but other than that, our lips are sealed till tomorrow morning (unless someone else decides to further blow up the system). Many Finns at World Car Fans died to get us this information.

Interesting development, no? I'm seeing swaths of Transit Connects now, and I'm sure the Fiesta will sell just as well early next year. This seems like a very interesting new vehicle choice for Ford, no idea how well it will fit into their portfolio as of yet. But, with that 1.6L EcoBoost I4? That makes me very excited to see what happens with the Focus. Much less, a "sporting" version of the Fiesta.

What comes after this? The Ford O-Face?

What class would it even fit in, it's part mini-van part crossover?

Also, what is the other Euro model?

Hmm, a squashed minivan. I wonder how it'll do here. No doubt it'll lead to a bunch of new compact vans here if it does decently.

Mazda5 competition? If I were to purchase a mini-van style vehicle, the Mazda5 would have normally been my choice. This car would change that decision.

Looks great (for what it is at least), like all the Euro-Ford cars. If I was in need of a tall wagon or 5-door hatchback, that would be on top of my list. It looks like it only has one back row of seats, so it's no minivan substitute.

...fortunately I'm single, so my 2-door, 2 seat RX-7 is all I need. :)

Also, what is the other Euro model?

1. Ford Transit Connect
2. Ford Fiesta
3. Ford Grand C-Max

...

4. MKIII Ford Focus
5. Ford "Mondeo" (some kind of EUCD successor is supposed to replace the Fusion)

Well, that's the tentative plan anyway.

Its just nice to see Mullaly's "WTF?" question when he first showed up is starting to effect how the company is run, what products are where, and most importantly, that things are actually... selling.

I actually saw one of those Transit things yesterday and had no idea what it was until I looked up Transit Connect just now. Glad to see they plan on bringing the Euro Focus here though.

A minivan that doesn't reek of mommy missile, I'd have one. It's sort of neat in a "I don't see that every day" sort of a way. Hopefully this one does well for Ford.

Wow, now thats a cracking car. I like it, and with some turbo ecoboost-ness it should be a decently good drive since its based on the Focus.

well, since the Mazda 5's basically the same car, don't see why it's a bad idea...

Mazda5 competition?

No, this is a Mazda 5. And a frumpier one at that.

Seriously, what went wrong Ford? The S-Max is a seriously sorted looking MPV, and this... isn't. In fact it looks like a Kia Sedona. No, I've changed my mind, it looks like James William Bottomtooth.

But isn't the S-Max the mid-sized MPV? This C-Max is the compact, right? It seems like a good idea for me. Especially when I have evil dreams of figuring out a way to buy a Transit Connect and making it seat-filled with other cool options.

It is indeed. Although technically this is the one half way between mid-sized and compact. I don't doubt it'll sell, I'm just none-too impressed with the styling this time.

Wow, Ford appear to now be designing their cars in Photoshop with the clone tool.

I've never seen anything so bland and miserable looking, the front end is pretty much the same as the Mondeo, Focus, Fiesta and Ka. There is absolutely no flair at all in their car design anymore. Do something interesting Ford, stop making these boring look-a-like cars! :(

I don't care if they're supposed to "look like they're moving when they're parked up", if I want my cars to look like they're moving I'll bloody well drive them!

*sigh* and thus, here is the catch-22 of "Brand Identity."

Honestly, there's worse Brand Identities out there. It could be Acura.

 True. I mean, I understand that it is their identity, their 'kinetic design' is what makes their cars theirs, but they could change at least something clearly visible between models.

It's not a minivan, it's a compact MPV. Unless you guys call MPV's minivans in which case I guess it's a compact minivan or a mini minivan. The car is part of the Focus product line, that's why it looks like the Focu. Even before Fords current corporate face found it's way onto every car the C-Max has always looked like the Focus because that's what it's meant to be, the pack you bags and kids family Focus.

Correct, the S-Max is the bigger pack your bags, kids and dead relatives family Focus.

Well on my opinion, that's a good car !!

The interior is nice and ... the buttons aren't really neat actually... The exterior is good and overall... As I said a good car 👍
