I'm no rocket scientist, so I need to WTF is going on today.

I've been shocked by my car door and my chair here at work dozens of times today. It usually only happens once in a while, and I barely feel it. Today, every shock I've got has been massive, on the verge of painful. I got one at lunch and I swore it burned my finger.

WTF is happening? Can the weather have this effect? Or do I need a new pair of shoes?

BTW,. could someone with authority change that t in many to a y,... I mistakenly skipped over the proof-read :(

many variables here, most likey is the weather. Plus on a day like today (or at least where i am, pouring rain) you car will be easly charged from driving resulting in heart-stopping shocker

I get shocked by my Jeep door every time I get out of it and touch the door to close it, really big ones, too. I know it's going to happen so I do it real fast. It doesn't shock anyone else, only me. It's so loud the passenger can hear it.

jeeps are very bad with that, my dad's jeep nearly killed me many times, some cars are charged more easily than others such as the jeep.

Weather.. We got the perfect for it up here right now.. Cold and dry... S(h)ucks :(

Actually - The cars are not shocking you... You are the one discharging your static load onto the car :D

/F

If you suddenly start getting shocks, you should take a look at your shoes. I know it's time to replace mine when they get so worn they start to makeme get shocks.

I find that in weather (as described above) it helps to drink water. And LOTS of it... Guess the higher water number in your body makes you less prone to generate the static build up needed...

But then again - What the hell do I know :dopey:

that is not nessesarly true, what is happening is when you drive the car, a trilliontrilliontrillion, ect air molecules are striking the car in a scenario that is similare to rubbing fur on a balloon. the end result is the car is charged by the air molecules.

there have been instances when trucks with plastic bed lining would get so charged that when the poor drivers when to fill them with gas, the gas nozzle would act as a ground causing a big KA-BOOM! if you don't beleive me look it up.

Post Scriptum (PS): I am in a physics Class at the moment so thats how i know

During cool weather and dry air, I've found the CR-V to shock me slightly when touch to door to close it (after driving, for some reason). My guess is the floormats crete the static.

Now after running errands all day last year, I was shocked about 16 times, finally, I got the brilliant idea to close the door with my rubber-soled shoes. No shock that time! So when it's cold, I tap the door edge closed with my shoe.

Once, I was at Cosco with my mom. She made me push the shopping cart for about 1.5 hours to 2 hours (you know how long you end up spending at cosco, those damn lines..). The entire time, The shopping cart was shocking me! And my mom wouldn't push... I must of gotten shocked 100 times, literally!

i get shocked by my car all the time when the lights are on for i have instaled a aluminun shifter that has the layout of the gears cut out and a red led light lights up the gear pattern. whenever i touch that and somthing else medal in my car i get a huge shock that WILL put you back in your seat. its not funny.

one time i was at a toll station and was putting the car into first while giving the lady my change and touched the metal strip along the window ledge. man did that hurt.

Maybe you should FIX IT!

the problem is that it did not have a ground wire so when i touch somthing metal while touching the shifter i am grounding the circuit.
