Hi!

I study the last year on high-school now and thereby I need to do an big project about something the whole last year. I've chosen, together with my team-mates, to work with video games and how that effects people in many different ways.

One thing we'll do is an endurance test, we play video games 24 hours in a row and I thought about maybe someone here is interested to take part in the test??

Date:

Week 44, don't know which day yet, weekend before week 44 is one choice.

Roughly, we will do a 24 hour race including small pauses so we can eat and go to toilet like this (if we start 9pm uk time on a Friday, to be confirmed) :

21:00 - Start

23:00 - 15 min break

02:00 - 30 min break (eating lunch or something)

05:00 - 15 min break

07:00 - 30 min (Big breakfast)

10:00 - 15 min break (Apple or other fruit)

12:00 - 30 min LUNCH

15:00 - 15 min (snacks)

17:00 - 30 min DINNER

19:00 - 15 min (snacks)

21:00 - Finish

Track

To be confirmed, at least one big track as the maximum amount of laps you can set in an online race is 200.

Maybe Nurburgring or Le Mans, don't think we can do Spa as one lap takes just over 2 min in a GT1 car, which means 2 min X 200 laps = 400 minutes (we can say 500 minutes including pauses, pit stops and rain) which is much less than a day 1440 min.

Sign-ups

I want at least 8 driver's, less than 8 driver's the race will not start. Then I'll do the 24 hour A-spec (offline = BORING) race.
Need a host with very good and stable connection.

Leave a message below if you want to join. Don't join if you don't think you can make the entire race!

Anyone interested to join this? GTPlanet has more than 200k members so I think a few people want to join, just need to find them :)

I doubt that a lot of people would want to do a 24 hour race. Personally, I'm in as long as it fits in my schedule. I'm coming up on a new job this coming Monday, and I don't know my schedule for Week 44. You want this in the next two weeks? Might be difficult to get 8 people.

I recommend that you actually do the race in free run mode. That way if anyone gets disconnected, they can just rejoin the lounge. Not to mention this would open the race up for shorter tracks. (I've always wanted to be a part of an endurance race on Daytona Road Course. [That has no day/night cycle though.]) We could have an official that isn't racing make note of how many laps the disconnected driver had and add it to their total at the end of the race. We could also have a Pace Car throw a Caution at that time. I'll volunteer to be the Pace Car driver.

I like your system of breaks, however it's unrealistic for a 24 hour race. If we do have breaks, then we could probably run a warm-up pace lap after each break. I'd recommend having a friend over that can drive well in GT5 and swapping off. (Breaks or no breaks.) Of course, swapping off may interfere with your study. Do you plan on interviewing us after the race?

8 sign-ups minimum is good but I think if we do this right and build up hype about it we could get 16 people eventually. (Though not very likely for even 8 people in the next two weeks.) Who knows, with enough dedicated people we could make an endurance race league out of this!
