I really, really hope that those people who will never be able to play GT4 online (myself included) don't get disadvantaged in any way - but i'm afraid that its highly likely this will happen.

What i'm referring to is downloadable content for GT4. Be it cars, tracks, more tuning options, wheels or anything else like that.

In my opinion if they are going to make a whole lot of stuff downloadable then they should (once enough stuff is compiled) sell a hard copy (i.e. game disk) with all the stuff on it which was able to be downloaded. At a reasonable cost too.

They could make it so that you need GT4 in order to play the disk or something too. Would increase the sales of the game i'm sure.

What do you peeps think?
This is the main thing that has me worried about the online mode. :(
 
well youd probably need a HDD if they are gonna sell another CD with extras on it, and most people get the HDD for the online games that use it. im not sure how many strictly offline games actually use the HDD, but i think theres more online games that use it.
 
Yeah true. The hard drive wouldn't be too much of a problem but going online would be for me.
Just far too expensive. :(
 
I think they are going to do something like that. Why wouldn't they?

If they do, I still think you can get a friend that can download some stuff and put it on a moemory card for you to make a copy of.

Forget the memory card, that 8mb isn't really going to cut it for those purposes. No matter what, if you're not online then yes of course you'll get disadvantaged. One thing you may be able to do however is bring your PS2 to an internet cafe or shop or something similar, download the cars and tracks, and take it home again. And who knows the downloadable content may be gotten onto the harddrive another way too - someone downloads it, burns it on cd, sends it to you, and you copy it onto your harddrive. I'm pretty sure people will figure out how to do this sooner or later, probably sooner.

In the meantime, wireless internet and sattelite internet is getting cheaper and cheaper, and who knows by the time GT4 comes out you'll be able to afford it .... :D Over here btw a broadband connection is cheaper than a phone connection, but that's partly because we're so densely populated of course. I can see how that would be different in New Zealand.
 
Yesterday while in the Grocery line I picked up the Newest Version of PSM Magazine, It states that GT4 will have the Cabability of 16 Online Players! With 100's of People Watching the Races from there TV or PC! Rumored to be one of the Major Delays of the game. Playstation Magazine also says they will bring all features off line, Online!
 
All of the potential add-on stuff might end up on the DVDs of official PS2 mags, just to satisfy those unlucky enough to not have a high-speed transfer connection, like broadband or DSL.

At least you can hope.
 
Rumor schmumer. PSM has said many things in the past that have not come true. Besides, magazines are outdated the day they're released. I rely on net sources that have quoted from shows, interviews, releases, etc.
 
Who said anything was true? I just wanted to ad my Input regarding what I read in the Magazine, Your net sources have got to be full of it also, Especially if there GT Soruces because none of them have been completely honest with us since the series started!

And that would include Kaz. I remember he said, "The AI in GT3 will be better than the previous titles." He was wrong.

We're just gonna have to wait for the final version of the game.
