Online data won't download (can't access online)

So whenever i try to play online, i go to the "open lobby" icon or "lounge." automatically i am told i must first install online data, after having accepted this, the download begins with an approx time of 40mins.. Every time i've tried this my ps3 stops completely about 1/3 into the download and i must quit the game..
Any advice? Thanks

I've honestly never have seen this once since GT5 came out :/ .. The only thing I can tell from this is somewhere along the line one or more updates became corrupted. I would delete GT5 from your game Data utility ( NOT YOUR SAVE DATA) and re-download the updates.

Only advice is to keep your game up to date. You can't go online if you aren't.

You didn't tell us if the download finished or not nor if installed. If it did, follow what jgancherjr said.

I get this every day. It's because you haven't installed GT5 on your HDD. Just click cancel and it will let you go online.

I think so, how can i check that, i can play the game and be online, i can share and gift cars just not race...
