Online Error *Disconnected from server* HELP

Hey guys,
Since I've gotten the game, I have been able to join online lobbies but a lot of times I join the game and I get a "Disconnected from server" message. Its very frustrating when I join a game to play and about 30 seconds into me driving I get disconnected..

Has anybody else been having these issues? When I join peoples lounges I still have the same problem. I'm about to cry lol but hopefully it can be fixed.
I am on NAT type 2 and I honestly don't think its a NAT problem but who knows. I thought I'd ask on here before sony get a phonecall from a very frustrated ps3 user. Thanks guys!

Yeah i been getting the same problem, i think i keep getting booted by the host.
You know most guys who don't even give you a chance to race.
They should have a private title on their lounge, and i bet we got plenty of them here on in gt5, they take the game to serious. i might as well just go drive around and waste some real gas

I'm unsure what exactly the problem is,but its extremely frustrating when you join a race then 35 seconds in it says I got Disconnected from the server...I want to pull my hair out!

Its upsetting though that I have a team and it sucks that I can't play with them most of the time without me getting booted..Anybody else have any answers on how to possibly fix this problem?

Poor luck really. If it was a constant thing then maybe check the settings on your router and make sure UPnP is enabled, QoS is enabled and MMC is enabled, your routers may not have those settings listed for you to change, so don't worry about it if you can't find them, other than that there is nothing you can do on your end I don't think. I do have this problem every so often, but I think it is more the online environment of GT5 and not a problem with my PS3 or Router.

It could well be a server problem but how many of you have given your ps3 a static ip and are using an ethernet cable? The reason i ask is my girlfriends brother couldn't get onto black ops when i was there so i wired his ps3 and gave it a static ip and it worked like a charm.

A conventional router has a decent length lease time for IP addresses so a static IP would make no difference compared to a dynamic IP address.

If you have your PS3 wired to the router then you will get 100MB/s connection speed and a more reliable connection.

If you have your PS3 wireless with your router then you get 54MB/s connection speed but then you have a less reliable connection and an issue with range aswell. With wireless-G, any range on the average size of a house will give a decent signal strength. There a certain things that can interupt a signal aswell, you could lose connection for a second.

Either way, I doubt the wireless really causes much of a problem, and perhaps it was more luck that you fixed the problem rather than the static IP and the wired connection.

My set up consists of the PS3 being wireless but I do have a static IP assigned (to aid with network security)

I think when you set up the PS3 for wireless you get MTU and UPnP options so make sure the UPnP is set to yes / auto (whatever option it uses for it to work) and the MTU is set to 1500

Oops i forgot to mention i put it in DMZ on the router as well which probably helped the most lol.

Most likely, but instead of DMZ check that UPnP is enabled on router and PS3.

You should only use DMZ as a last resort as it opens all ports in and out.

Being British I get this a lot when joining a race hosted by French people, but hey most of them are dirty drivers and cheats anyway so not a big loss!

Im only speaking from experience with my own PS3. I used to have problems signing in to the PSN and if it was signed in it would keep signing me out. It was fixed by giving it a static ip address and hardwiring it. After this I had problems with lag and disconnections on certain games which I then fixed by putting it in DMZ. You can also use port forwarding but to do that for every game you have can be a pain so the DMZ is easier. In the DMZ it is open to hackers etc but there isn't really anything that hackers can get from a PS3 which is why it is a recommended method to use for it. http://portforward.com anyone having problems should take a look on this site as there is a lot of info about what I am talking about and also guides of how to do it. I would also recommend getting a good router such as belkin as I have also done this and its perfect now and the isp supplied routers are not great.

Edit:
UNnP was always enabled on my PS3 and router and the MTU was set at 1500. Just to add I am not a computer or networking expert but what I did worked for me. If it didn't do anything then i would still be having problems connecting to PSN which I don't ever.

So would you mind telling us how you solved it in a more simple manner :D ,Oh and I have a 512 kbps connection what do you guys have ?

You know , I didn't think of slower connections in other parts of the world. I have 7mb download speed where I live and that's considered pretty low by some people here lol. Im pretty sure the PSN has a minimum speed for it to work properly I think its about 1.5mb download. This could well be your problem tbh.

Yeah Sadly the more I think about it the more I realise It could well be my 512 connection (which is actually not cheap and a good connection speed where I live).Although in MGS4's Manual It said my connection is actually capable of Hosting a Lobby and I don't have any problems or Lag while playing games like COD,Fifa or any Codies Racers games.

Glad to see a thread up regarding this problem.
I've had serious issues with stable connection on GT5 for a few patches now. I play GT5 on 2 different networks (depending where I am.) Both networks have very similar setups, (ie router and ISP.) When I got one network to become very stable after Static IP, allowing tcp/udp ports and throwing it into the DMZ for good measure.
I tried to emulate the setup on the 2nd network and seem to have no joy at all. However the difference betweem the 2 setups is that I also had port fwding for PSN exclusively, now I cant remember the site but I think it was on the PSN forums that gave addition ports from the usual ones cited on other forums.

It's extremely frustrating. 9 joins out of 10, I get disconnected from server after about 45sec. I find I am less lucky when trying to join one that has 10 or more players than if I were to try to join one that has only 4.

20Mbps down, 3Mbps up, very fast internet. No idea what the ping is (I'm guessing it's the "bars" when looking at rooms in the lobby.

I've had the same problem and after reading through the thread and with having WiFi in the house with ipads, nooks and laptops, my best bet is to run a direct network cable correct? It should only take one drill hole into base board and then running 45 feet through a drop ceiling in the basement. Please advise.thanks

pigboy has same problems.i know very little about comp.at the back of me computer there is ethernet out hole.i run blue lead from that to PS3.is that O.K.im in australia and have a wireless dongle.when watching justin T.V. my speed goes to 1.5 mbps.ps3 uses less than half i think.but i have problems when loading webpages speed goes to 0.0 then just starts back up when it likes.USB dongle aireial might help.on another forum it helped alot for 1 persons wireless indoor connection.when navigating thru ps3 and GT5 it always seems to sign me out.im going to take my ps3 to my mothers(with washing eh??)she has great connection...ok im off to me PS3 to see settings, which i wont understand...

I have the same problem sometimes, and i figure out that it depends on the person hosting a lobby. I have tried to join and race on certain persons lobbys, and i allways get booted after some seconds, so they must have something wierd with their conection.

Other people i can join and play without problem.

I had this everytime, I knew my router had uPNP enabled but when I tried testing it via the XMB, my ps3 said I didnt have uPNP enabled...

I changed my router settings to disable the DMZ.

I had set up a static IP address for my PS3 and put this under DMZ hoping it would stop any issues exactly like this....

Anyway its disabled now and it's working fine!

log on to you router settings (see portforward.com for help), ensure uPNP is enabled and check you have nothing under DMZ.

Hope this helps.

I have a 10mb connection. I have the same problem all the time. It tells you when you get kicked...it's not that. It's the Polyphony Digital server...period. I've played this game enough to be sure. It's the servers. Write your congressman!

I Know This Post Is Old But ...
CGR Host , Mark , Said In His Review Of GT5p , That He Couldn't Race Unless He Kept His Unup Thingy Off. :S
