Hey All, I am kinda new here, picked up my gt5p copy a few weeks ago along with a logitech GT, awesome steering wheel with an awesome game aswell!

So I have been spending some time online and Ive been reading this forum since I bought the game, but 95% of the posts are about the negative side of the online experience. Maybe we should keep a list of idea's to improve the online racing, idea's that are not to radical which could be implented within an update.

An Idea I had was to be able to make a private race, choose one of the running events and protect it with a password. That way, all of us could race together and not be botherd by all the retards who keep thinking they play bumper carts. :indiff:

Other then that, I think the update has been an improvement, atleast if i get bounced off now in 90% of the times I dont get an extra time penalty aswell! so thats the good news. :sly:

So whats your opinion about the improvements which should be done to make this an even better driving experience. to be honest, ive been waiting so long to be able to drive online with gran turismo, and ofcourse you got retards all over the place (they are in almost every game and even in rl u cant get around them, so what u expect? that they cant get online? :nervous:), anyway I love driving online, its fun to find some human competition! 👍

Hi bosmuis. The online penalty physics haven't changed much from the previous version. The Spec III update in autumn hopefully will have private races, so as to weed out the punters. but if you get a few good clean racers in a race now, it's still enjoyable.

I totally agree about the fact that races can still be fun if a few good racers are in there, and to be honest, whats more fun then after you have been punted, you drive clean past the punter and just show him how you should overtake instead :sly:

For sure. Theres nothing that makes me laugh more, than seeing a punter who tried to take me out, spinning out in my rear view mirror.

1. It has elminated wall surfers from HSR and other tracks where hitting the wall can help you gain time.
2. No more disconnects
3. Performance Point are a little more fair, and allow lower class cars to race with upper class cars.

Love how wallriding is impossible :) Also indeed it seems if you are hit by someone else, and hit a wall because of that, you dont get a penalty (most of the time)

THUMBS UP for PD :)

Yes another thing they got right!

Lets stay positive, this update did some good things for us. The only bad is the Pro phsyics are little too easy now. lol

Positive!

yeah its fun, sometimes you have a bad race, ah well then you will have to take some risk and start overtaking them back. Good thing 90% of the punters can't really drive fast, so its no problem to keep up with them and overtake them with style :D

I have encountered a problem with #2 (disconnects) , it still happens , in fact it happened to me 4-5 times over the weekend , I thought that was part of the on-line fixes , but it still happens . From what I read somewhere in this forum , it can still disconnect by means of physically shutting the PS3 off , is this how they are doing it ?

The disconnects are done by quiting the game via the PS button. Sad but true.

Some times people connnection do go bad. Not all of them are intentional disconnects. ALso, whats to stop someone from just restarting the game? That can happen too. Its not completely fool proof, but i'd say my online disconnect rate was around 20% of my races(I do have statistical data to prove this). Now its 0%, since the update I've had no disconnects.

No offence is intended here Chadswick, but you were calling out Kazunori a couple of days ago, and blasting on him for how bad things have turned out for GT5p. :boggled:

^
fully understand your point Chadwick , I always knew about the bad connection thing , but what I saw this weekend were people getting punted , and then " poof " - disconnect.
good point GT-Fanatic , was not aware of that one , I guess that makes it simple for the quitters
what's wrong with when you get punted like I did over the weekend ( which I got to say is becoming less and less ),you just park it off to the side and wait, collect your credits, and then move on. I don't understand some people.

I do have an answer to that. Yes, with the way the deal with their updates. Yes, how they don't seem to care about its hard core fan base, and how they screwed our real physics and turned them into some arcade grip level. But I can like some of the things the update does for the game.

I do share you hate for the many aspect of the game that are broken.

But, there were some good things that came out of this update.

The fact that you can't just out right quit the race anymore is great. But I agree with you in the fact that, even if the host decides to turn off this PS3, the race should still exist.

I am still on your side man. Just try to see the good in things, becuase what is the point in being Mad about something you cannot change?

You will always have your cry babies that just will out right quit. lol

Hurry up with private races is what i'd tell Kazunori if I had he's cell phone number lol.

That statement is not entirely true. If PD had done the job properly, any form of contact with the wall would result in a penalty, but they seem to bodged it up again.

I can't speak for HSR, but on Daytona, it is still possible (even more so actually) to collide with the walls and receive no penalty. There is one technique which, (using the back quadrants of the car) enables a shady racer to have contact with a wall, and receive no penalty whatsoever.

PD need to get brutal with the collision detection system once and for all, its ruining the game!

of course what I say is from what I have seen and experienced. :sly: 👍

Thats cool, but PD could of put a bit more effort into the penalty physics. I do agree that there are good elements to the update, such as the improvments in the sounds of the cars. But the GT-TV wasn't what I expected it to be.

Oke I understand everyone is upset about some things in the online mode, but still, isnt this what we allways wanted, racing online against each other? Its only the beginning, imagine we get private races and such, if GTplanet would just host a few races with a password it would be great to do some real driving. Untill then we can only enjoy what we have so far!

There might be better topics for what I am about to ask but this one seems as good as any.

Besides private lobbies etc. what would be one or two things that players would look forward to that would really enhance the game? For me in the next major update I would like to see at least 1 track added more if possible. Right now at least for me even though the tracks are okay I think there are other courses that would be much more suitable for online races. I would like to see tracks that are perhaps closer to 2 to 2.5 min max per lap in 700PP. I race primarily Suzuki but it gets old. I would like to see Laguna Seca or perhaps Grand Valley speed way (with Grand Valley East) as starters. Seattle would also be a excellent track for online racing. What would be your ideal course that you would want for online races based on the current Online parameters? I just feel that there are several courses in the previuos games that would be better for online races.

A lot less dosconnects, i like that yes.

I do get a lot more of those '60:29000000' errors (or s'thing close).
And sometimes i end up hosting a three or four car race which is a bit lame.

Btw, welcome to the forum forestmouse (bosmuis ;))
