I was racing online earlier with a load of guys from here and other forums. Super GT, it was a blast.
Anyway, a few more people joined the room just before a race at Deep Forest. They didnt appear to join the track during freerun and were not on the grid for the race. There were six cars on track and we raced blah blah blah.

The thing is, afterwards I get this message from i-Plume (one of the guys who had just joined) asking me to be more careful when passing as I knocked him off the track twice. He was not in the race as far as I was concerned. I never saw him. And the other guys in the race were all congratulating the other player who had just joined and he wasnt in my race either.

So I saved the replay to try and prove my innocence but its too big to add to a post. I noticed that on the replay details text it say only 4 cars participated even though there are 6 cars on track in the replay, but still no sign of i-Plume or Fak.There are also empty grid slots between the cars on the grid that were obviously filled by these missing racers.

The thing is my car must have been able to interact with his car as he said I hit him, but Im certain I never felt anything and my car never seemed to behave strangely or bounce off of thin air.

Has anyone else experienced this? Its a shame because I like to race clean and I know the people Ive raced with will back me up on that. I'd hate to get a reputation as an inconsiderate driver through this bug which I certainly am not.(At least not for a few years now:))

I'll upload the replay to Youtube if anyone is interested but I mainly want to prove my innocence to i-Plume who was very polite in the message he sent me considering he must have thought I was a right:censored:.

I've had it happen to me, and several other people have reported it mid-race as well. One time I was in 2nd at Daytona behind the leader, and he asks me if I can see this other guy. I said no, he also said he couldn't see me and told me he was in 2nd place, not me. The leader saw us duking it out in his rear view, while both of us were driving clean lines behind him.

Sometimes you can see others who cannot see you. For instance, I passed a guy with 3 laps to go at Daytona, and he couldn't draft off of me, so it was an easy win.

Sucks pretty bad, but it appears there are many bugs online with GT5.

I've had this happen also. I bumped someone slightly and then let him back by me and apologized after the race. He said he had no idea what I was talking about and that he never saw me on the track the whole race even though we were 1/2 the whole time and finished within 2.5 seconds of each other. (20 laps)

It's happened to me a couple times. Even happened to a guy in my room last night doing Nascar races. He asked why only 3 people were starting the race, when 10 people were in the room. We told him that there were 10 people in the race, but he could only see three... It's a shame too, because even though you can't see the cars not on the list, but they can still see you and you can hit them :(

I've seen cars that are "ghosted" but you can actually hit them. That creates a problem...

Thats just when they're serving a penalty or they've been ghosted to avoid heavy collisions. You should always assume they're going to become solid again and not try and drive through them.

i know what you are talking about but it is not that. It was ghosted for the entire race and it is not a lapped car.

Me and some guys were doing a really long race. After a while, we were talking about who was in the lead. Everyone was confused when I was talking about how far behind I was, they were like "but you're in first dude" On my screen, it said that GTP_Razor (or something) was in first and he was laps ahead of everyone. When it gave me the split time it said I was 7 laps ahead, this confused me greatly. I could watch this guy drive around the track and even hit a guy once which send him skidding a pretty good distance. No one else in the room could see him on the grid or on the track. They did see the countdown and all that when he finished the race. They could also see him when we were back in the lobby.

I know I've got an open NAT but I wonder if I've trashed a few cars that I could never see. :/

^ I was in that race, haha. I was wondering about the whole collision thing though. I was wondering what kind of driver GTP_Razor thought I was if he lapped me an alleged 7 times without me knowing, and with me doubtlessly swerving all over the track.

(102 laps of eiger W trail in cars less than $20k, RWD Lexus was interesting...)

yep been seeing alot of this crazy stuff, the more cars in the race the more likely it'll happen. happens alot with nascar at daytona and appears to be server or connection related. perfect opportunity for the blamers i might add..

This happens all the time to me and my friends. Does anyone know if this is something we can fix via network/port settings? Or simply a glitch in the game?

This happened to me in the early days of online playing . We had a closed lobby of 6 people racing but only could see 4 on the grid. Only found out when I shouted out to the players who were missing on the mic replying back that they are in the race with us.
Funny thing is it was the same people over the next few days who were going invisible so it may be a network/connection problem from their side.

I am having this same problem. I am in an online league and it is really making me mad when this happens during those races.

I really hope this gets fixed soon!

Sounds like a network issue. I have seen this invisible car problem as well. I run the wireless setup on my PS3 which might not be the best for online racing.

Hmmm... just trying to figure out how you saw the problem. :sly: 👍

But I also have encountered this problem whilst racing... there was only four cars visible to me but seven racing... chrashed into my team-mate a lot aswell
but he was invisible.

It's a MAJOR issue in this game. I've participated in a weekly racing series on another forum where every Sunday it never failed for us that at least one person or more would have issues seeing other drivers on the track. Someone who I always connect well with during the week and on Saturdays would be able to hear me over chat but wouldn't be able to see me on the track, although I could see him perfectly fine. For the official result of the race, we'd have to go off of whoever could see everyone in the room. The problem with this is that it turns a race into a time trial instead of an actual race.

Happened to me last night, I was chatting with a mate who had six cars in the race, however I only had three. Weird.

Being from Sydney I have only experienced it when there are a lot of non-Australian drivers are in the race, eg last night when it happen there were English, Spanish, Polish and French drivers racing as well as 2 Aussies.

It is an issue with the firmware on your router, had this with a couple of guys at work. Had my router firmware upgraded to latest version no I can play against them no problem.

It's called desynchronization, stop using wireless and downloading stuff while you're playing GT and you'll get rid of it.

you race on daytona... 👎

I had it once where 2 of my friends couldn't see each other & were driving on the same peice of tarmac completelty unaware! I could see both of them & in the replay I saved, their cars were lag ramming each other for the first few laps, it ruined the replay of an otherwise good race.

Don't remember anything like that happening in GT5 Prologue, GT5's online seems worse to me in many ways, except the constant fails of course.

:grumpy:👎

This happens to me. I only know this because I play with my brother sometimes and he'll tell me afterwards that I smashed everyone off the track like a bowling ball. Obviously it's a complete PITA. I think it's related to the host's connection.

Last night in a NASCAR race two guys did this ghosting, they spun out through me , I felt nothing and kept going...

Just had it happen to me, there were six people racing but only four showed up in my race. I saved the replay but that showed only four racers.

That explains a few things - had 2 races last night (Nascar at Daytona) where I won, but other cars were shown ahead of me in the results, plus there were other drivers (who didn't appear to be in the race) apologising to one another for various crashes etc. I even had one where I had lapped the host, he showed in 3rd place on the last lap, but was then shown as the winner in the results!

Us at fun racers have it all the time.
We put it down to network problem or connection conflicts between certain players.
Im in uk and race against ppl in spain. Some i see fine but it seems i conflict with others.
I have low connection speed so put it down to that. Dont get lag tho, they just appear invisible in my race.
We never contact tho, so maybe a different problem.

We clear cache and reset PS3 before joining lobby. That seems to work abit as not had too many invisible racers since.

Maybe a PD member of staff can enlighten us?
