Online Issues - Is it my Connection, PS3, or GT6?

I've been hosting races for a number of years on GTP now with no issue. However one has got steadily worse in last 6 months for me on GT6.

When online, and I press I go to track in a lobby, it will take anything from 30 seconds to a full two minutes before I am put on track. Now during that time I will only see cars that are loaded after I come on track. So if I am 14th on track, I will not see the other 14 cars, and if they do pop up, it is at random occasions. My only surefire way of fixing is exiting and rejoining the lobby.

I have attempted to delete and re-install game data, rebuild my PS3's internal file structure, clean GT6 disc, reset my internet, use a blu-ray disc cleaner, and yet I still am having issues.

Anyone got similar experiences / tips? Or is my PS3 just dying (GT5 launch edition 320gb by the way)?

I wholly believe that GT6 is pushing too much out of the aging PS3 system, and causing all sorts of issues depending on which model you happen to be using. I can't even go online anymore on mine because it will crash my system in about 10 minutes. This only started happening around patch 1.12 or so, but before then I had minimal issues.

You have to remember these systems are running on a GPU of 256MB and the same amount of system RAM, and forcing it to output 1080p images at a high rate. Eventually you push it too hard and start getting massive amounts of graphical errors and/or issues maintaining connectivity.

That's a point, perhaps downgrade to 720p instead 1080? Would that help?

This is something that has gotten really annoying to me. For example, if there is a full lobby, and there is only one person I can't see, when the host starts the race the person I can't see will appear on track but not moving at all. Everyone else will drive right through him like he isn't there, but I will spin out if I touch him. At the end of the race my screen will try loading for about 30 seconds before disconnecting, just because of one person who cannot load onto my screen. Hopefully this gets fixed for GT7.

Thats a connection problem. The driver whos invincible to you and cant be seen by others either has a poor connection or the whole lobby is just a mess. The servers seem to be getting worse by the year too.

It's just how PD's online system is set up, always been bad on even the best connections. Unless it's a fixed host, you rely on the connection of each individual in the room. One bad link and the whole room could potentially be effected.

Always been pretty poor since GT5...

Other games do a much better job with regards to online stability on the PS3, even GTA and that's a BIG game.
