So I'm having a problem I don't know if its just me or what. The last few days my performance online in these lobbies with what I like to call arcade mode physics is taking a plunge. I normally race with all driving aids off including abs off and tire wear, fuel consumption, false start on. It is my understanding that with the "sim" features enabled I am about a second slower than offline time trial/test drive. But what I can not understand is why my cars suddenly feel very low grip and when I apply the brakes the cars just want to slide. The cars don't feel this way in the offline portion of the game where everything feels normal, say I am lapping Brands Hatch GP in a "full sim" online practice race I can get my 500pp Sports Soft NSX-R around the track in a 1:30.1, in offline time trial I can mange a 1:29.3, but in an online "arcade" race I'm struggling to put in 1:31s. Is anyone else having this problem? Did PD tweak the physics? It's a little frustrating and I just hope it isn't me.

didn't have this problem...
Maybe it's just you, but it also could be a problem...

When practising on my own, I've found offline and online with tyre wear/fuel consumption off to be quite close. Times are slower when tyre wear is on until fuel gets low, then online times get closer to offline times if tyre wear is not too excessive.

Add a few people to an online lobby and it becomes something of a crap shoot. Not that the physics change but lag plays tricks with perception and it becomes difficult to trust my inputs.

Thank you both for your insights, I was a little afraid that it was all in my head lol. Well I guess I gotta practice more in these online "arcade" lobbies to learn to deal with them better.

I as well as others have noticed a change in grip level from lap to lap racing online.I seems to have nothing to do with the tires being warmed up or track temp it just happens randomly on say the third lap of a 5 lap race.
Will blow through a corner that I know I should have been able to take braking at my usual braking point.
Or a corner that I know I can maintain 80 mph around that I am sliding off the track doing 60 mph.
My favorite one though is when coming out of a corner in a car that won't spin the rear tires if I tried in first gear is now spinning in third gear fish tailing from side to side and the only way to regain control is to near come to a stop before the tires cool.
When this happens it seems the tires are heating up turning red instantly like I got comfort hards on instead of racing softs.

When you turn fuel consumption on, the game calculates the weight of the fuel, so your car is heavier. As you use fuel, provided your tire wear is not too excessive, your times will get faster

Yup, easiest way to test is just burn 3/4 fuel, pit, new tyres with no fuel top up, and you'll see the time difference quite easily.

As for the "arcade" online mentioned, what exactly do you mean in terms of room settings to class it as "arcade"? boost? certain helpers on?

One thing I have noticed at times though, is occasionally I (and some regular racers) will be doing a free practice online, then the race starts and our cars behave differently, less grippy and unbalanced.

The thing we can put it down to is GT's engine simulation of "change of track conditions" As we don't notice it on tracks where weather is static, only the dynamic weather tracks, so really 1 + 1...

I'd really love tyre temp stats in GT and if track temp changes with weather cycles, that info too.. would definitely make tuning and camber settings easier...

I understand what effects a light fuel load has over a heavier one, I am puzzled by my inconsistency in different online lobbies with different room settings.

I would say take note of the room settings they use where you are experiencing difficulties, especially starting weather, time progression and weather change amount (also make sure boost is not a factor)

The room settings i frequent are 20-30% weather at beginning, with 30-40 weather changes at 7-10 time progression with 20-30% surface water at start. All these settings have differing effects in handling at certain times of the race.

What I am noticing has nothing to do with room setting, track temp, time or weather.I will lose grip for a half a lap on say lap 3 of 5 then goes back to normal for the rest of the race so if it was track temp, weather ect you would think grip would get worse getting closer to the end of the race not act like I hit an oil slick and go back to normal after half a lap.

We just beat this stuff like a dead horse in the main section.

Online physics are different, no matter the room settings. It will be slower no matter the settings online. No one knows why, it just is different physics. People try to speculate this and that, but it always gets shot down. Anyone who says they're just as fast online is either lying, flipping aids on or just trying to start an argument. Or they're not consistent enough to say so. Many of us have been picking this stuff apart since the game came out, because we do league and series racing, so we have had no choice but to figure things out.

You don't lose grip just sometimes or for parts of laps. People think the tires degrade at a higher rate as the wear becomes worse, ie the tires wear down from 6 to 5, than from 10 to 9. That's true, but it is not programmed in. It is merely due to the fact that the tjre doesn't have as much grip at six compared to ten. Which creates friction and instability...which wears tires down quicker. People come up with nutty theories. Oh...my car suddenly feels different than yesterday. No... It's you. Have thought it was the car or physics myself as well.

It happen's with tire wear, weather off and if that was the case it would get worse as the race went on.
I'm not the fastest guy on the track but I am very consistent so when this loss of grip happens randomly I can really notice it.
I don't know if it is caused by a bad connection or a glitch in the game but it is happening. It could be that my ps3 is dirty and needs to be cleaned! I don't know. That is why I an here asking about it to see if other experience the same thing.
If you don't experience it that's great lucky you but some of us are so if you have nothing to add to the subject other then to say its a nutty theory that's all in our head and we are having a bad day then what are you doing even replying other then to be a weiner head.

Maybe you are not consistent enough to notice it and believe it is just you having a bad day but I know that is not what is happening to me.

You are right that I should not lose grip sometimes or for part of a lap but that is exactly what is happening.
You and others may have beaten this horse to death but I and other have not.
How bout pointing us to the thread where you beat this dead horse.
All of us have not read every post on this site so if you are going to bother posting something why not make it helpful to other's which is the whole point of this site.

I saw a thread that sounded like what I was experiencing and I replied to it explaining what was happening to me.
Is there other existing threads dealing with the same issue?Probably but this game change's from one update to the next so maybe this is something new as a result of the latest update.I don't know.
The only way to find out is ask SMH

Removed for rudeness

I am merely asking a question man, upon making the thread I was open to the possibility of this issue just being me. And I never said my car feels different than yesterday or any other day for that matter. I stated that there was a change for me in different rooms with different room settings.
