Hi all,

yesterday i was doing an online endurance race and a question came up concerning the Pit Stops.

- Do all the pit stops not envolving refuelling take the same time?

I ask this is because two of the pilots pitted at the same time only to change tires and one came out at least 15 seconds earlier than the other!!

P.S. - They we´re using the same car and switched to the same tyres...

Cheers everyone,
N

Different amount of Fuel is the Reason.
Edit I idiot -_- just read no refueling => no clue from me

If you go into the pit to fast you receive a 15 second penalty. It is the time when the pit crew is doing nothing and you are just sitting their. That may have been the problem especially for a 15 second longer stop.

You can actually get a penalty in GT for that? I've never had that happen to me before. Does the penalty actually show up on the screen and tell you that you were speeding in the pits?

When entering the pits with another car, whoever is farther up usually has to wait until the other driver has passed. This is to not damage your car when exiting the pit lane. Been said a lot of times. Your delayed due to other cars. Many people talk about it, and I have experienced it myself.

When damage is on full, I think cars that have damage to repair take longer in the pits.

I have not heard of this pit road speeding penalty before, I generally slow down a little to avoid the car spinning out (like at Laguna, your car will hit the wall if you enter too fast).

I also haven't heard of it taking 15 seconds longer to exit just because another car is in the pits. 1 or 2 seconds so the cars don't collide maybe...but 15 seconds?

There is definitely some weird stuff happening with pit stops though, especially when cars are running close. If you go into the pits on the tail of someone, you shouldn't exit more than 1-2 seconds after them.

No it doesn't give you any indication that you have a penalty but during your pit stop you'll notice the pit crew isn't doing anything and just standing there with their hands up for 15 seconds and nothing is happening. I race a lot of Nascar and this is happens a lot at Daytona if you aren't careful, I have only really done this at Daytona never had a problem at any other track.

Edited: ^^^ Daytona has it's reasons. When a car is passing on the bend on the outside your delayed as not to hit them when exiting the pits. Already solved.

Oh just realized he said 15 seconds. I have two answers to that.

1. More cars were entering pits = more delay.

2. He actually was refueling.

I just tested this in my Lounge by myself. First lap took my car in hit the line about 170 mph and the computer had to reset my car at pit entrance. Timed that pit stop from car stop to car moving was 18.5s. Next lap entered the pit at a reasonable speed and the stop time was 11.4s. Maybe 15s was an exaggeration but I am pretty sure if the computer has to reset your car when entering the pit, your pit stop will take longer.

EDIT: Both were no gas pit stops as well and know one else was on the track. Also you'll notice none of the pit crew is doing anything when you are sitting there so I am pretty sure there is some penalty. And there was no penalty's for the race as well.

You tried Daytona right? Try some others... this is something (as far as I know) that only happens on Daytona.

So if there is a penalty for speeding...what is the appropriate pit road speed? Is it the same for each track?

I just tried it at Monza and wasn't able to replicate the same results. I think it might be how you enter the pits. At Monza and other tracks the computer takes control of your car and has time to slow you down. At Daytona the computer takes over right when the car is already supposed to be slowed down. I tried to go in as fast as possible at Monza but the computer still had time to slow down.

Proper pit speed is between 50-75 if I remember correctly I know at Daytona if you are going about 80 when the computer takes over you will be fine.

Thanks everyone for all the replies ;)

Cheers,

I get penalised quite often at Laguna by not making the left hander into the pits and crashing into the wall, means you sit in the pits a bit longer after the crew is done.
There is also a glitch I believe where if you hit pause while going in the pits it wont release you until you pause and un-pause several times.
It would be interesting if anyone can verify if re-fueling adds any time or not. I haven't noticed it myself.
