I've often wondered if it takes the number of people you race against at the start or finish of the race. As is so often with large grids online, you get people rage quitting all the time when they can't win or get a good position at the end. All too often a grid of 16 will end of with only 8 or 9 people finishing.
If people quit, everyone gets paid less. It's silly but that's the way it is.
My favorite are the people who spend 10 minutes in a race, only to be unsatisfied with their finishing position and quit half-way through the last lap. You might as well drive another 30 seconds and claim a little something, although I realize a couple thousand Cr isn't really all that important.

I wonder what the payout is for the Nascar guys who do 200 lap races around Daytona, I have seen a few of those rooms online and can only imagine.
The biggest payout I received was in a nine competitor field, five laps on Spa where I eked out a victory and was given (I believe) 45,000. This was some time ago so I may be incorrect on the reward figure. Maybe including the credits awarded in the replay data could be a feature for GT6 (off topic)
