PS3 is new to me & for some reason it won't stay logged in. It picks up my wireless internet (which is in the same room) & loses signal & logs out within 10 minutes every time. It's happening with all the games, not just gt5p. Any input would be appreciated.

Maybe something is interfering with the signal where your PS3 is... have you tried running wireless internet on it in another location or tried using you laptop in the same location to see if it also looses the signal?

Are you using a Linksys WRT54G wireless router?

They have issues with the PS3.

No, it's an inexpensive belkin. The laptop, PS3, & router are all within 15 feet of each other & the laptop doesn't lose signal at all.

All I can suggest is setting up port forwarding. As I have no experience with Belkin routers I cannot help you with how to do that.

In general, for console gaming port forwarding can add some stability, plus it is what is recommended for GT5P.

Outside of that the only other thing I can suggest trying is disabling UPnP on the router. Those two things are what fixes the issue on the Linksys.

Your problem sounds similar to the Linksys issue where the router resets the connection when the PS3 tries doing something. Disabling UPnP and setting up port forwarding stops it.

The best I can suggest is running a Google search for PS3 and whatever your Belkin model number is to see if others are having similar problems. There could be a fix floating around out there.

As others have stated though, something could be interfering with the Ps3's connection.

Is it in an entertainment center with tons of other electronics and wires? I'm shooting in the dark on this, but I figure it is a possibility.

I appreciate the help but all this disabling this & that is greek to me. Can i just plug the wire in straight from the modem while i'm playing games?

Yes that would probably be the best way of doing it, I have a long extension cable that I use (dont have a wireless router) and I havent had any problems.

In your address bar (where it says "gtplanet.net") of your browser.

It won't work wired? How do you mean? No internet access at all, or does it keep disconnecting like before? I've heard of little to no issues connecting directly from the modem.

If it doesn't work at all then you have to turn the wireless off in the options, if I recall correctly.

What NAT do you get when you do the connection test, connected to the router and without?

I had this exact problem! So solve it I had to get my router to assign my PS3 the same IP address every time and put it into a DMZ (does the same as port forwarding, but for ALL ports).

Even then I still had problems, turned out that the torrent programs I had running on my 2 PC's were intefering! So I turned them off and all was good.

I then removed the console from the DMZ to see if the problem came back and it did! So I put it back into the DMZ.

Bascially....ensure you DO NOT have any torrent programs or even newsgroup programs running that might interfere and put your PS3 into a DMZ!
