Online purchasing

Hope this thread is in the correct section.

Its about purchasing online DLC (for GT5).

now I'm never usually fussed about DLC, and I have never ever purchased anything online in my life. But this is something I really want, I want the full package with all the suits, helmets, track, cars etc.. but;

Can I trust PSN with my details?

Should I really risk it and purchase the DLC or do you guys think it shouldn't be a problem?

Should I also get advice from my bank?

I don't have a credit card, I only have a Visa Debit card which I can and have previously used in ATMs overseas without any issues.. would be able to use this type of card online, yeah?

Yes, you can trust the PSN 100%. I've had my debit card details on the PSN for years, even during the hack, and my details have been 100% safe. You know you can also purchase PSN cards from stores that have a code to add money to the PSN Store, right? That may be a good alternative if you don't want to add your cards details online.

Ok technically the ps3 store got hacked and no one really knows how safe it is, but its fixed now and that can be said for anything. Generally online reputable sites are safer than real life transactions as in real life people can instal equipment to steal your info while online you have to hack the main data base which is extremely difficult. I think visa debit will work with the ps store, but you can always buy special ps3 cards from the store which are basically gift cards. You enter the number in the same place as you would a credit card and it uploads how much money you paid for onto the ps3 giving you the ability to buy things. I bought a few things and worked fine same with millions of others around the world so you have nothing to worry about.

Ah thanks heaps guys, I actually didn't know about the Cards so I'll have a look around for those. I really must not miss out on the GT5 DLC.

Shouldn't have to look too hard for them. Even 7/11 has them now.

I've had credit card details on mine and my girlfriend's ps3s since we got them and never had an issue though. Almost anything can be hacked if somebody wants to badly enough so it's up to you really.

I had a look around the net and found a few shops that have them such as Game, EB and JB Hi-Fi. All of those shops are close to me so I'll head down tomorrow and grab.. if I can a $50 one to start with. That way I'll have plenty left on it to use in the future.
