In an attempt to filter racers by skill, would it be smart for Kaz and friends to implement a system in which your online accessibility to races is in accordance to the licenses you obtain?

For example, a person who hasn't gotten his A License would not be allowed to enter any room that requires and A or above (Super). This is not a punishment as anybody can achieve this license.

Would this cause frustration? Would this seem fitting? Those that passed the higher licenses should be able join a room where all the others have accomplished the same goal. Instead of having noobs enter a supercar race (600+HP), he must have his A or Super license. Now he has proved himself. He can, however, race in a supercar race as long as it's in accordance with his licenses.

A Super License holder has accessibility to all races, but he/she, of course, will have to comply to the car restrictions like in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.

Note: This will not, of course, abolish ALL dirty racing.

Or should there be another means of determining this?

In my opinion it'd just cause more noobs to download 100% game saves from the net with the licenses already down. I don't think there's much PD can do to stop people from doing that.
I'm I right in thinking that trophies are linked to PSN usernames, not game saves? If so, then all PD would have to do is give trophies for licenses, then make online races that require certain trophies.

Although, hopefully if PD implement a good penalty system, hopefully this won't be required.

I believe PD could "lock" the game-save file out (I'm not sure on the correct terminology) in the same way other games such as GTA4, where game-saves cannot be copied from one gamer to another.

I'm all for an idea based off of this concept. I'm sure most people want to drive with other players of the same skill level, but of course this should be optional for the race host.

I agree with this. A friend of mine introduced me to Killzone2 so we could play online together but i was a noob and he was a hardened veteran. When we tried to get in the same room the game would not let us because our ranks were to far apart. Now that I am more skilled with the game and am able to play in higher rated rooms I can see why I wasn't allowed at first. The game is a lot more difficult in the higher ranks.

Licenses should be like trophies, and be non-transferable.

This, and as for the noobs downloading saved games, they should somehow attach the save game file to your PSN ID so it cannot be transferred or something. I could possibly have no idea what I'm talking about and therefore this could have many loop holes, but you get what I'm trying to go with this.

When you download a save you don't get the trophies that the original user earned. So if they put trophies for completing licences it will be allright. If you don't have the trophy for a specific licence you cannot participate in certain events. Great idea, separate the men from the boys. 👍

I just remembered that the expert online events (at least I think that's right) in GT5: Prologue are locked out only to players who have completed the Special events, so perhaps this is an indication that PD have thought about SrRd RacinG's idea or something similar.

For open public races I would hope their matchmaking system will find a way to pair up equally skilled (based on main game progress) racers. The Prologue model is already similar in that you must have beaten a certain amount of the single player races, so I do see this being the direction they head.

For private races though it should be optional because friends will want to race each other, even if one just recently purchased the game and hasn't progressed much while the other has had it for a while.

Standard and Pro physics is a big enough divide.

If you can't race online whenever you want, the game will not sell.

Yes, and I should have said that before. Privately, it makes sense. Racing with buddies, they're much more accepting of your faults and you can get away with poor driving. Encouragement and practice is all they need. Private rooms are great for that online experience without the pressure. In a non-private room, your "nooby" friend would be the target of criticism (not in your private race, though).

I don't think anyone is promoting the idea of preventing all online racing, but just which races you have access to.

Sort of like a setup where you can immediately get into beginner races, having B and A licenses will allow you into intermediate events and IA and above will allow you into expert events.

So you're in favor of having people who just bought the game entering your Super License room? Come on.....

The game will sell regardless, it's about cleaning up or better organizing the online feature. It is too huge to allow anybody join any room. The server will find ANYBODY for you to race, and that surely won't bode well. You want to know when you enter a room that you're entering a room with people of a similar level.

I also do not think the pro and standard physics are enough. When a lesser-skilled player enters a pro physics room, he is automatically worse than when entered. So what's the fun in that, you know? Let's make him earn his way in. And yes, it will sell.

I never said my prefrence. Thanks for putting words in my mouth.

Dont quote someone and say they said something that they didnt say. That is rather ignorant.

I love the idea. It would keep the punters out of the upper-skill venues, so my Acura NSX stays in one piece.
