If and when PD implements (or turns on) realistic mechanical and cosmetic damage online there needs to be a deterrent otherwise miscreants crashing into other cars on purpose will still happen all too often. That much is obvious.

But I hope a damage repair bill isn't the only deterrent planned. I'm thinking of iRacing and its genius Safety Rating and PD would do well to consider this method. Basically your Safety Rating in that game is a formula based on how safely you drive. Crashes, spins and even having the center line of your vehicle go off track worsens your safety rating over time. To improve your rating you just have to drive safely.

This system would do wonders for GT5. They could make it so you could set a minimum Safety Rating when creating a lobby for those who want a clean race. They could even make it so that the same rating is used in both online and offline races so you at least have somewhere to go if your rating drops below what most online players will accept.

Your thoughts?

It would be a very good addition. Just copy iRacing's model. Why mess with something that works so well? You could then restrict your rooms to the SR level of your choosing to keep the crashers and idiots out.

Would be perfect, won't get implimented ever sadly.

You're best bet is probably to join a race legue that will inevitably hold private events to keep the bad drivers out.

Good idea, FIFA has a DNF % (did not finish %) for matches online should not be much of a stretch for gt5 to have it.

But also I feel they won't.
