Is it just me or is it Polyphony is trying to keep the leader boards filled with car from Japan, I can understand the competition in it, but between the NSX-R Prototype LM and the R390 Road car (Which in my opinion is nothing more then the race car without the decals) Its getting very annoying when that is what everyone is using, They need to add more leader boards, mainly leader boards for either makes or just country origin, I am just like everyone else and would like to see my name on the leader board, but i refuse to use something that everyone else uses especially when it should have a higher PP then its got

Currently ranked 699th at 1:11.211 in a Murcielago LP 670-4 SV
Anyone else using something other then whats on the leader board?

I used a Ford GT, I did a low 1:12 time. I managed to beat a few of those NSX LMs as a few of my PSN friends used it.

I got gold on my first try with a W12 Nardo. Only ever managed a 1:14.3 but I wasn't ever trying to better it after I got gold.

I also used a Nardo (unsure of the time :dopey: )

TT leaderboards are about the fastest times with an eligible car. Limiter and ballast make most all cars eligible for most any TT. High aero grip makes those cars among the fastest in any contest they're eligible for. No sign of intentionally trying to make Japanese cars look good, just the two cars that can cheat the system the worst happen to be Japanese.

You can use lots of cars to get gold, but if you want to beat the fastest times you'll have to use the fastest cars. And there will always be a couple of fastest cars even if they outlaw the limiter or those two cars specifically.

If PD cared about making the system interesting, it would be a PP based TT. In any HP/Weight system the cars with the highest downforce that fit the regs will win and if downforce isn't available, then the best handling car will win. Which means in just about any street car TT they qualify for the NSX and R390 will win because they have the most downforce, and if they are too heavy, then the Suzuki GSX-R will take it.

In a PP based system there may still be one car that dominates the leaderboard, but there could be dozens of cars that are competitive enough to come within a second or two of the best time and it would make the TT's a lot more fun and interesting up and down the leaderboard. Or ban downforce altogether, they are "street car" TT's after all. Or one make TT's as with the GT86, with two different NCD cars in the two TT's. Anything but the way they are going lately would be great.

I golded it on my first try in a Gallardo, what an awful car to race without a good setup.. Barely braked in time to make the turns, and it had the steering circle of an ocean liner....

No matter what pp or restrictions are set, there will always be one car that is the fastest out of the box. The TT's are first about finding that car and second about putting down your fastest lap in it, and third about tuning it to squeeze even more time out of it.

Of course there will always be one fastest car, but by using PP instead of HP and Weight things would be much, much closer between cars at any given PP level. Despite it's weaknesses the PP system does provide for some close car matching at all levels even if it's between a dozen or half dozen cars. As it is, you just can't compete in a street car event with 35/60 or 35/80 downforce and it's not much fun running the same car over and over. 35/80 in a street car is a joke. We've got a thousand+ cars in the game and PD can't design a time trial that makes more than 1 car competitive. Come on!!

Of course if all you want to do is gold the trial that's easy, dozens of cars will work. But I'd like to be competitive in the overall with more than just a couple of cars. It's boring the way it is.

Johnny, thats exactly what i mean, constantly those 3 are running better lap times at the same PP. while there are dozens of other 2 / 3 seconds back. I know that either way there will be a car to completely dominate, but 2 seconds is alot, the PP are lower then they should be.

I am not the best driver, but i do provide better times then alot of people, and probably would be better if i knew how to set up the settings, most of the time my best lap is at default settings (besides the trans, its easy to get the most out of just by dropping the top speed, like for this TT, which is about 170, but even then, If i knew how, i could get a few tenths off by tuning the trans.

I want more time trials like the last GT-R and SLS time trials(with SRF off!) where PD gave us the car to use so everyone was on an even playing field.

I don't know Johnny. Whatever PP I pick, there is always 1 car that outshines the rest in stock form. I've tested over a dozen cars at different "street car" levels...340, 350, 375, 400, 450, 500. There is always one car that is quicker, maybe 2 that can keep up in the draft, and the rest are over 1-2 seconds off pace on a simple track like GVE-R.

But you are right about one thing. If the TT is designed for street cars, downforce should be prohibited. There would still be a go-to car to win the TT, but it wouldn't be the R390 Road Car anymore.

I stopped spending more than a few minutes on those open TTs. If the TT puts me in a spec car, I'll work on it a bit, but if it is a pick-your-own-car deal, I just grab something in stock form that I think will barely get gold and work it until I do. I'm not battling anyone else, I'm battling myself. If people look up my time, they'll see I got gold in a very unlikely car, not that I was 1 second off pace in the same cheater car everyone else used.

Try looking in the Seasonals section. There are threads covering each seasonal and lots of guys post their tunes and results so you can find some help over there.

Tell me what those cars are that are 1-2 seconds faster than every other car because I don't have them...lol. I usually stick to the 450/500/550/600 levels and I can think of a dozen cars at each PP level that are competitive within a second or so at the tracks I usually tune on like Deep Forest and Road Course Indy. Maybe I'm just a crap tuner :dunce: so they all turn out the same...lol...but even if one car is a second better there could still be a host of other cars within that 1-2 second window and the seasonals would be a lot more fun, competition wise.

But yeah the whole downforce thing is a bit ridiculous. Surely someone at PD has to be looking at these seasonals and the 900 or so non-racecars that can't compete with the R390 or the NSX LM Road Version and thinking, "Wow this is dumb"....aren't they? :nervous:

And while we're at it how about a seasonal on RS or RM tires. Yes I know cars are easy to drive on those tires but let's face it, the majority of guys aren't going to be real competitive in these blazing fast cars with hard tires so it'll get the more average player more involved. And who doesn't enjoy cornering at unrealistically high speeds once in a while...:sly:

I can't see this helping. There is over a 2 second spread as it is now over the top 250 and that's using the same car. There are a couple of GTR's in the mix, but not enough to be meaningful. The only way I can see to accomplish what you are looking for is to give any car you choose the identical performance specs for the TT, and then you could drive that Fiat 500 to the same times as the Honda LM concept Road Car.
