Has anyone noticed a lot of wreckless driving in online races? I don't mean bumping and driving backwards and the usual asinine things. I'm just talking about braking late in corners, slamming into walls, flooring it out of corners and wrecking, etc. Do you find that if you focus on your lines rather than the other racers, sooner or later they wreck and you can pass them?

Create/ Join room with at least Light Damage On. Reckless drivers avoid those rooms, you'll have a better time there.

Until one of them can't read and joins anyway.

I agree with being patient though, they will swap ends and hit the wall soon and then you make your move.

lol Just put the damage on strong and they will be sure to drive clean then if you mess up someones car you end up screwing yourself in the process

Yes I get it a lot. Rambo I call them. Anyway, anyone know how some cars JUMP? They seem to fly off the road and reset back to the middle of the road again? Its like some kind of cheat?

Join rooms with restrictions and rules. In my experience if the room has any kind of tire restriction the racing gets a lot cleaner (No racing soft kiddies, beware drifting rooms though).

I raced online for the first time in a long time today, I wasn't trying to be wreckless, nor did I have an overpowered car for the tracks I was on. I just noticed the car has a very different feel when driving online for some reason. I didn't change my driving style, and my settings were the same as driving in A-spec yet I just kept on spinning...Even on the slightest of corners which I'd usually go through at full throttle. I found it extremely frustrating.

I wouldn't say everyone is trying to be wreckless, it's just a whole different ball game online.

I host my own race rooms because of bad people.

EVERY time I enter a room that isn't mine, I run into people that drive either intentionally or unintentionally dirty. Last time I was in a room that I wasn't hosting, I led all of Nordschlife with my MP4 racing against LM cars at 650pp. The 2nd place guy was able to draft up enough to be within 5-6 cars of me in the right turn immediately after the straight and 2 high speed brake turns. He intentionally rammed me into the wall using me as a brake, took the win, and I placed 5th. I was irate - not because I lost, but because of the tactics used to 'beat' me. This kind of dirty driving gets you banned from my race rooms, which are by far the best I've come across.

I leave races to boot dirty drivers, and I'm happy to do so. Hosting rooms the way I do has earned me a slew of great/clean/fun drivers that frequent my race lounges. You guys should try it.

Happened to me just yesterday, I was in the lead at the first chicane at Monza. when some guys who didn't know their brake-points violently slammed me into the barrier. Catastrophic turmoil, 10 cars or so trying to get away, making it all worse. Well, I came in 8th finally :indiff:

Put damage to heavy, sports soft restrictions, maybe pp restrictions and you should have pre-selected at least 85%. The rest takes just a few turns to select. Them your room should be mostly clean..

hopefully it will get better when shift 2 comes out all the kiddies will jump to that and leave the decent drivers to gt5. it does seem to be getting harder to find a decent room these days that's not a glitch room or no such-and-such a country allowed.

I´m on your side, didn´t understand those specific country rooms aswell. But since someone posted here, that it´s done mainly to keep connection stability, at least THAT got a bit of sense..

It's bound to happen. It's just the same with people that curse excessively and use the racial slurs. I always race with my friends who I know do their best not to make contact.

They're all too used to arcade driving where you throw it into any corner at any speed and you make it round

This is sadly true.

But if I use my driving line in front of people I am the one that crashes into them because they haven't seen that they don't need to drive like level 0 B-spec drivers (that drive 1MPH in corners).

So I have to ignore my driving line while I drive near people.
I am also a person that rather take the inside of the corner once people makes mistakes rather than forcing my way through.

This is what seperates the average from the good where you can stay quick when you aren't taking your racing line. I find most people concentrate on the car infront too much though and end up making the same mistakes as the car ahead.
My problem is more the opposite i'll focus too much on gaining time that i havent noticed the bloke infront of me is doing 20mph less through a corner or under braking and have to throw myself into the wall (rather do this than get kicked when you finally find a lobby full of good drivers)

Think i might of come up with a way to sort this online racing penalty system out, if its easy to impliment.
I used to play a game called Planetside, if you kept shooting or killing friendlies, you would rack up Penalty Points,if you got to a 1000,you were banned for an hour or 2 from using weapons or veichles.

I was thinking that they could impliment a system like this, say have a 200 point limit
slight contact - 2 points
short cutting - 5 points
rail riding - 15 points
deliberate contact - 25 points
driving wrong way more than 50metres - 150 points
etc..

if you rack up any points by drive for more than 5 minutes, your penalty points drop by 5.
But if you clock up the 200, you get banned from racing online for a day, if carry on getting banned, then a day is added.

if this makes any sense, well done in reading it,lol,my english isnt very good, and im english..

Aspec set ups don't work online, I don't know why? I set up my cars in my lounge now because of this problem.

Wreckless or reckless? The OP says the first and implies the second... that 'w' makes a LOT of difference :D

The answer to the perennial problem of in-lobby-idiots in ANY game is to build up a friends list of people whose playing style you like. The best way to find such people is by visiting fan-sites/forums like this one.

As you might expect I'd highly recommend WorldLeagueRacing.com, lots of fair-minded drivers who hate the shenanigans of random lobbies.

Random lobbies aren't ALL bad, of course... but sadly they are wreck-fests more often than not.
