on gt5 online there is a free run before the race starts, is it possible to restrict the free run to 1 lap enough to warm the tyres up.

Sometimes you go into somebodys room and your waiting 6 plus laps before they start the race, and you just want to get on with the racing, cause thats the point of gt5 online to race. Any thoughts on this people ?
 
Hi :) As far as I know, theres not a way to restrict the length of the warm up session

When i host, I keep an eye on the various icons by the drivers names to see what they're up to
re: choosing car, driving options etc


A couple of minutes of that and then I message saying 'race, 2 minutes' then start ready or not

Some hosts do seem to take an age though, in which case I give them a little niggle. If they still
persist in hanging about, just bale and try another room

It's not because you aim for racing that other in other room dont have other goal. Some like to do Time Attack so they'll never start, some like to wait a fixed amount of time between race, some like to start right away, some passed out, etc..

Oh and dont forget you can make room to with your own rules. I hate it when people enter a room and start to ask 100 things to the host, can you change that, can you add that, can we start racing, can you change stuff etc... And the most funny is that 99% of the time the people dont even try to talk to the host first by comon greetings, it's just I want that, put that (to sum it up). Kinda rude.
 
Racerpaul you start your races of pritty quick by the sounds of it. Thats how it should be.
 
Sometimes when i create a room it takes ages for someone to join, then i get bored waiting, so i go into somebody elses room. Im surprised there dosent seem that many people play gt5 online, unless im in bed when there all on.
 
Does free run warm up tyres? I thought the tyres are fresh n cold again when you start the race.

They are, you always start with equal tyres. But I think it takes 3-4 laps to get a decent qualification laptime with warm tyres.

Haha I never enter rooms this serious. Even if I always find myself the cleanest driving in the room n get rammed off into sands all the time, still too timid to join those hardcore racing rooms.

Just a heads up, the whole point of free run is to practice and set up the car. Limiting that to one lap defeats the point. 6 laps of practice is nothing, and it would be nice if that was the minimum practice times in most rooms.

Not that there is anything wrong with jumping straight to the race of course, just realize that there are practical reasons for long free run sessions.
 
As said earlier other people have their own methods and reasons to drive online. If you are unhappy make your own room.
