Does anyone know how to get the roof down in Premium roadsters (MX-5, S2000, etc)?

I believe it may have to do with the track you are driving in (like the lights on at Nürburgring), but I am not sure…

I'm pretty sure that's the exact reason. Nevertheless, it's, as far as I know and as said above, not possible.

Having the roof up on a convertible improves the aerodynamics dramatically - as such you'd have to be mad to have the roof down if you're on a race track.

I'm not sure about the safety comment however, a bit of cloth isn't going to help you in the unfortunate event your car rolls but I suppose it's better than nothing at all.

Regardless of how it impacts driving dynamics, I believe the only cars that can be driven with the top down are those that can be driven with the top down and they can do it in every aspect of gameplay unless otherwise modified to have the top up (Ferrari California with a spoiler, BMW Z8 with a roof added). There is no "weather permitting" requirement for a car's toplessness.

It is nothing to do with safety.

In GT4 you could drive any convertible with the top down as long as it was on a track restricted to two cars.

GT5 restricted this to just a couple of cars and GT6 does the same. If it was anything all all to do with safety then no car would every have its top down.

My parents raced a convertible 58' Alfa Romeo Guiletta Spider Veloce. Never once raced with the top up ;)

I know in GT5 there were convertibles with tops up and some with tops down. I currently have fun driving the USA version of the Shelby Cobra with the top down. The AC Cobra (British) has the top up.

Don't the Miata's and some of the Honda S2000's have the same purchase options? Where you can buy a model with the top up or down?
