What are your opinions of having other open wheel cars appearing in Gran Turismo (6)? Mainly the slower disciplines. I would love to see Formula Fords/Mazdas/BMWs
and F3s. I think the slower the cars, the better the racing. (Kart is just too slow IMO - for me at least). I still remember racing Fords/F3s in Toca 3 :) Good times 👍

F3s in famous Macau GP, great track!

I think those cars are a lot more appropriate for GT5 than F1s for sure. Cars like the Ariel Atom (most requested car in the feedback sub) would be awesome too. I guess they just never really had a desire to feature them in the game since I wouldn't think it'd be too hard to get the rights to model them.

It's fun trying to water-down the FGT to half its horse power and by adding lot more weight with no aero in the mean time though.

+1 on Macau. I still drive that track every once in a while in Race '07. Macau reverse is especially scary.

True. The F1's in GT are just too much to handle for the novice. The slower cars would better suit the masses ;)

I don't think it be too hard if Kaz had the desire to do so. Which games currently feature these kind of cars? Hmm.. GRID if i remember correctly? ..but that game's down the drain. I guess the Ferraris were brought into GT simply for the prestige that comes with it :/

I could just see the potential these cars would bring to GT - great close racing - online leagues/series' specifically.

Live For Speed has the FOX, which is a fantasy F3 car. It's very popular online because of the close racing. LFS is a PC sim though, so if we're just talking about console games, none aside from GRiD that I can think of.

Personally I don't like racing single seaters but +1 for more variety. Especially when GT's single seater line-up consists of the FGT, 2 Ferrari F1 cars that are almost useless and the X2010.

I'd love all the open wheelers that are in Toca 3. I'm not a big fan of open wheelers, but I would still love them. :)

I love the Formula BMW in Race 07, simply because it's like an F1 car but at a speed I can handle, so I'd be up for this. Then again it would be hard to argue against it, more cars can only be a good thing, even if they are Skylines or MX-5s.

A couple of classic F1 cars would be great too, perhaps 1 or 2 representing their respective companies. A quick "off the top of my head" list would look like:

Auto Union Type C '35

BMW Brabham BT52 '83
BMW Sauber F1 2007

Dome F105 '96

Ferrari 312T
Ferrari 412T '94

Honda RA272 '65

The great thing for Polyphony is they'd only have to model a single chassis/set of specs/soundset per series. Maybe do a couple different liveries if they're feeling especially generous but plain colors and numbers would be fine with me too (matte pink #64 all up ins).

I remember in Codemaster's Race Driver series you were forever getting the giant suspension arms on the formula fords tangled up in those of other drivers :).

I've wanted open wheel cars since GT1! And I'm sorry but a few Formula 1 cars that aren't even and can't be used doesn't cut it. Its almost like they think the current formula 1 drivers cut their teeth racing MX-5's, then progressed up to top end production cars, tuners, low level race cars, Touring Cars, Class C racers, Le Mans and then got into F1... Which has NOTHING in common with any other car in the game. The closest thing is then the Go-Kart....

GRiD had open wheel cars, but I didn't actually enjoy them that much... The game engine whilst fun didn't really cater for F3 cars and just made them super grippy. Was like racing X2010's at half speed. I wondered if F1 2010 would suffer as a result but it is a lot better.

These cars would be great if GT tried to do what I think it was trying to do. Starting off with the karts and then progressing to these at some point before going to the F1's.

loved to see more verity in GT5, and so many open wheel class cars would be a nice addition. from the above mentioned to CART/Indy Car, USAC midgets(winged and non winged) star Mazda, F2000, formula Nippon, etc

Indy

This is what we need.

Along possibly with formula ford/renualt/3.

I think however the most benificial feature would be to be able to tune road cars to turn them into race/rally cars. And a livery editor would also be a massive help with this.

RM for the Go Kart possibly? After seeing some videos of those Karts (or very similar ones) driving the Isle of Man TT course I think they are a definite must have.

what types of karts are those?
and we DEFINITELY need more open wheelers like formula 3's,1's,2's
and classic f1's we should get at least five for every decade
but we really need this(with a livery editor)

Sorry, but I had to take the Brabham out of business here; it belonged to Brabham family/team, rather than the BMW directly.

Perhaps can I add McLaren MP4-4, Lotus 99T, Ferrari F2002, Renault R23, and Honda RA106? 💡

if they added every single one of these cars UNRESTRICED into GT5 i would poop my pants in joy

EDIT: Can anyone identify these amazingly awesome cars. The second ones are the coolest looking cars ever IMO

lol.

i think the last 2 pics are called "Race Modified" from the Nascar Modified Series? ..i think it only runs on Ovals?

But anyway, would anyone be interested in an F3 Series? The F1 cars can be down-tuned (Power Limiter) all the way to about 350-500 hp. I tested it out at Monaco and it's good fun. Kinda weird with the engine noise though as i was going really slow lol (thanks to wardez who inspired the idea).

what days will it be on?
i cant do sunday at 1:30-3:00 EST cause in my FGT series
and even if they only do run ovals they look awesome

If you ask me what I'd prefer for Gran Turismo, I'll answer more GTs. All FIA GTs is a great idea. New/old production cars also. If they add open wheelers...... I'll also be with you 👍

Well they'd better damned-well add Brabham as a constructor, then, hadn't they? :p
It's sacrilege to just exclude them, in my opinion, looking at the other company in this thread. Plus Sauber is also an independent race outfit, as in the C9 Group C car etc.

But all of these "lesser" single-seaters are great, too. F2, F3 etc. are all great ideas, plus the formula-manufacturer series etc. "Formula Libre" type events would be very interesting, too - perfect for a game.
