Thinking about GT5 and its car selection had me thinking. A lot of car classes (unofficially, like hot hatches or supercars) have the vs matchups that we always talk about, like the 911 vs the Corvette and the R8, Porsche vs Ferrari in general, Corvette vs Viper, Golf vs Civic...and I think about the few open-wheel cars we get. For all the flap that PD has about Formula GT, the F2007 and the F10, you know what I would have liked?

I would have liked to have some other open-wheelers to eventually play with, like letting the F2007 clash with one of its biggest opponents at the time, the McLaren MP4-22, but I can hear people saying that this might be splitting hairs and asking GT5 to stray towards, say, the territory taken by Codemasters' F1 series of games.

However, here's what I want to see: F1 cars from other eras given an official sim representation. How about giving us cars that were in video games before (sort of) but never given a proper simulated representation, like giving the McLaren MP4-4 another chance alongside some of its enemies, like the Ferrari F1/87 and the Benetton B188?

What if Maserati's 250F was in there? Where's the love for the Lotus 52 Climax? I know it could probably be done if we have open-wheelers with large, skinny tires like Jay Leno's Tank Car.

How about anyone else on the forum? Do you think PD could have used Gran Turismo 5's enormous selection of vehicles to highlight some other eras in racing, much less just open-wheelers and F1 cars, that haven't really been covered in a lot of detail?
