Hi everyone. I opened my G27 pedals to install Nixim V2 springs. When i opened the brake module, I noticed the original spring is covered with a thin layer of oil, while the nissim spring has no oil on it. I red Nixim site and there is no mention of oiling the springs.

From your experience do you think I should add a little oil on the spring or install it dry if there's no problem?

Thanks.

No need to oil them, but I suggest you do just so you won't get any squeaks later. I suggest silicone lube, but if you want just use wd-40, make sure any lube you use can be used on plastic.

You are correct, I think I heard some noises. The problem is I must finish the pedals tonight and I don't have either. If I put some virgin olive oil (my production :p ) would it help?

As said I would oil them just to stop them squeaking. I wouldnt use WD40 though. I think it would be a bit thin for the purpose.
you could use light machine oil. If you dont want to buy oil though you could use cooking oil or olive oil. Might sound strange but I work in the food industry and all food safe lubricant is, is various grades of cooking oil.
The best thing I would think if you can get your hands on it is PTFE lubricant its quite expensive though. Its the kind of thing you find in Engine oil treatments such as Slick 50 or STP. maybe if you or someone you know is doing an oil change you could use the little bit left over in the bottle.
Another possibility is a dry lubricant such as graphite powder. It wont drip down and has the advantage that it doesnt get dirt or dust stuck in it so wont get all gummy.

Just the moment I saw the title of this thread, I suspected it was you Theofile. Did you have it fixed? How much difference these springs brought you in the end?

I can't find anything tonight and I need to finish the pedals tonight. I haven't tried them yet since I am doing a heavy rebuild of the cockpit that will make me feel super comfortable.

Having worked with the Logitech pedal springs for quite some time, I certainly recommend to oil the springs if they have been wiped clean or are dry.

I have designed and sell a progressive upgraded brake pedal spring:
(GTEYE Progressive Brake Spring) that comes pre-oiled and sealed with a proven lubricant, so you do not need to worry about oiling it again during installation.

You do need to be careful with your selection of lubrication, so it does not affect the surrounding plastics.

I use an Australian product called INOX which is non-drying, not sticky and is stable on all plastics.

If the spring is not lubricated, it can cause clicking and binding in some cases.
