I don't really know what brought this into my head but I figured it would lead to a descent discussion on the matter.
We all know what Mario and Luigi, the famous plummer brothers, have retained their cartoon form throughout their whole career. Yes, there was a real-life movie regarding the brothers, of which was very poor but I am thinking of something different.
How do you think a Mario game would fare if the CG's were assembled to represent a more realistic approach to the world and its characters? I guess this can simply be related to how Ocarnia of Time changed the way we looked at Zelda in the Nintendo64 from the 2D version seen in the SNES.
Would a move like this hinder the Mario Bros. Franchise, leading many to want more out of each following game? Using another Zelda example, many people were not fans of the "cell-shading" appearance of the Wind Waker and wantde a more realistic approach which they will soon get in the Twilight Princess game.
Im just throwing this out there to see what people might think.
