My father has created this racing seat and this is just a quick mock-up video before something proper is done. Would really appreciate any honest views on the seat and any possible improvements (I appreciate it's difficult without actually using it) as you lot are much more experienced and knowledgeable in this area.

I have used it on GT5 a great deal and it's stood up well to some heavy punishment and I believe it works well.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Everyone has different needs when it comes to sim seats. While some may have unlimited room for a cockpit, others do not. Also style is important to some. Your particular design is brilliant for easy storage and seems pretty easy to set up. The seat looks like it could get uncomfortable after awhile. The look of it is decent, not a big fan of wood designs but if it was painted it would male it more appealing, IMO.
Overall, just by seeing the video, give this design an A for portability and easy setup. B for style.
This design is ideal for many similar racers out there.

From someone who doesnt have a lot of space for a cocpit, i'd also say this was a great design. the only key selling points you should use if you want to mass produce this is:
1)sturdy 2) quick setup 3) cheap
It looks like all three could be possible with this design, good job and good luck
I would also see if you can make the bottom seat angle a little backward, might help with comfort level

Thanks a lot for the replies, I will pass on all the information.

I agree with the point about looks, especially if younger people are interested, if a variety of colours were offered that may solve that problem.

In terms of comfort me and a mate did the 24 hour le mans race just about in one go and didn't have any problems so I wouldn't worry about that aspect. Also the back of seat is adjustable like a deck chair is, if the bottom part of the seat was too it would be easier to get comfortable so that's something for us to consider.

thanks again

That's good to hear that a long session was performed and ended with positive results. The other thing that this seat seems to have is adjustability, if a seat is designed for a particular person, than this isn't as important but since this looks to be targeted to a variety of people, the more adjustments the better all while keeping it sturdy.

With the x2010 so it took a fair beating! I agree with you about adjustability, it takes seconds to move the pedal box, change the angle, height and distance of the wheel, and move the seat angle so swapping between taller and smaller people is really easy.
