I recently bought my first racing wheel about 2 months ago. With it I bought a Rennsport wheel stand. At the moment I use my 47 LCD screen in the main living room for my Xbox/Playsation use. Since my living room is a good size I bring out a folding/lawn chair to sit in when I race or play COD. And Im pretty comfortable with the arrangment...............BUT then the wife factor is figured in. The way our house is layed out the living room is the focal point of the house its airy and open so I can sit there and play games while still half ass talking to the wife. In the past she has wanted to watch TV and I would pack everything up and watch tv...I dont have a problem with it...BUT since my purchase of the wheel I have been getting realy involved in racing and have been looking at racing seats. But there is no way Im going to drag the seat out of the hall closet to race. I was thinking of a pernament set up in our day room off of the living room with a seat and another smaller tv. Then I can use the seat for both playing racing games AND COD. But Im afraid that once I do this I will become a hermit and never leave...Next thing you know here comes a small fridge....and since its close to the back door I have a bathroom....

So I guees what Im asking all the married guys out there is what is the best way to go about having a cave and actualy spend time with the wife????

We have a 2 bedroom house, no kids < HUGE PLUS, LOL. Anyway, I use the 2nd bedroom as the mancave. In there I have my racing setup, numerous guitars and other music equipment, so it is pretty full.

Now to even out the wife time and man time, we usually spend a Saturday night together watching movies or our favorite ID Discovery! Also we cook out and have a fire in our backyard often when the weather permits. But the most important thing as to why it works in my situation is because she has her own hobbies and can only take a little bit of me at a time, LOL.

As hard as it is sometimes, the best thing to do is portion control, if that phrase works here. I do not know your wife, but if she is the needy type, you are ****ed:D.

Been looking at "Man Cave" threads over at the sister site and its got me thinking..Maybe I CAN drag a Playseat back and forth from the hall if I put some small wheels on it. Im trying to get the best of both worlds because I occasionaly have friends over and we will break out Rock Band or other party games. So I dont know if I realy want my set up in another room...Then Ill have to buy another Xbox just for the man cave......Im thinking out loud

Not BIG wheels...Just a small set mounted to the inside of the Playseat in the back. Pick up the front of the seat (where your feet go) and drag it where you want it. Carpet on the floor should hold it steady enough

We have a bedroom that we use as an office/den and I have my racing setup in there. I would never consider having to get my seat out and put it away every time I want to play Forza or GT5. I think it is really important to have a dedicated location if you are going to buy a seat. Otherwise, you will end up not using it once you get tired of moving it around. I also bought a TV out of my own pocket to use for gaming. I basically let her use the living room TV whenever she wants, and I can play video games whenever I want. No fighting over the TV. Everyone is happy!

So check this out! 1st of all I will say my wife is good as gold plus I have 2 young kiddies, a 2 year old & 5 month old.

My sim set up is in our main bedroom which comprises of 42" LED purely for gaming coupled with my home made rig made out of wood & mdf = carpeted/covered wood. On top of this sits a Cosworth Recaro seat (got to be comfy you see). all the heights are set so when I am using my GT2, the TV acts as the windscreen when playing in bonnet cam. All this kit is super heavy as you can imagine.

In terms of use, I aim to have a go everyday even if it's 2 or 3 quick laps so I can have my fix but being mindfull that I do not get home from work until 17.00pm & enjoy family time.
