Seriously once again the opponent AI seems to be simply an invulnerable train you start and the end and have to work your way to the front.

You can literally hit a guy on his rear quarter panel at full speed in a corner. He will not spin out and will continue on in his current position. This is not racing its obstacle avoiding. I was hoping this would be better in gt6 but am sadly once again burned.

Have the GT6 devs seen a real race before? It sure does not seem like it.

The AI do NOT spin out, make mistakes, react to the player, take a line other than the one right behind the car in front of them.

That is one of the current issues in GT6 as of now, I don't even treat the race as a race, I treat them more as time trials with your aforementioned obstacles. I just try to beat my time and pretend that theres 11 large trafffic cones moving at 100mph around me, the only issue is that when you try to overtake them, they become cops and try to pit maneuver your car and your left in a 180 spin.

Hopefully it gets fixed, but your hitting people at full speeds in a corner? As the FIA would say:

I just tried it to see if they could be affected.. And he just continued on to win the race like nothing happened.

One of my biggest gripes as well. How is it that in so many racing games AI behave as though theyre on rails? I had them spin me with no effect on their car then rammed them at full speed entering the next corner out of revenge, only to watch them stick right on their racing line without so much as a twitch while I lose control into multiple spins and rolls. :ouch:

What car and race were you doing? The AI has actually been reported to brake and slow down to give the human players more time to catch up.

Catching up to them isnt a problem. Even a train can speed up and slow down on its tracks. The problem of course is likely that the console cant handle processing full physics for every car so we get a "dumbed down" mode for AI. Surely though they can program a better impact response for AI cars.

I've spun out from being hit in my rear quarter panel and I've spun the AI out before by hitting them. I've also seen the AI make mistakes from time to time and several times they have actually moved to avoid colliding with me on a turn.

I've managed to spin out a few ;)

But it doesn't make up for all the times they've shunted me off or weaved down the straights

I'm just tired off being brake-checked at every corner.

Their braking ability is so incredible that I can't approach them at corners without ultimately rear ending them. On top of that, they almost never yield their line to me, meaning I usually have to take some wild outside line and hope they don't just cruise across the track into my car after they reach the apex.

I've not done much racing on ovals this time around. But in GT5, they'd nitro draft their way to me and then either slam me or blatantly pit me. I don't think I'm even gonna bother with NASCAR this time.
