Yesterday i drove my Oreca Viper a bit, and i could not escape the feeling that it has some insane amounts of grip compared to other cars?
When i drove it next to the C5R and C6R (both), the Viper felt so much more grippy. All cars where stock and on RH tires, but the Viper felt like it drove on RS, it was that much of a difference.

Has anyone else noticed this, is this normal? I like the Viper but the grip level is sort of spoiling my driving in the other cars as i expect more grip then i actualy have and just fly out of corners allot more easely.

Even in previous games I've felt how good the Oreca Viper is. I haven't driven it in GT5 though. I don't like driving standard race cars.

And I think you got the year wrong, by the way. The Viper GTS/GTS-R didn't even exist back in '91 :P

I meant #91, i updated the thread title too. :)

I haven't driven it but could the weight/downforce be a factor?

At the same time, something I've always wondered is how the cars get coded so that cars in real life that have better performance end up having better performance in the game (Elise/M3 etc). Is there some extra 'grip' at play here that doesn't affect the PP value?

Oddly enough the #91 is a level 22 car, and the #51 is a level 21 car. I have no theory on why this is.

The #91 is a car I sometimes use at 650pp. It has a very good weight balance (48/52) despite being FR. This makes it considerably better handling than the C5-R which is 55/45. I think this is the majority of the difference youre feeling.

The aero goes up to 50/70 as well which makes it super good, however I must disagree with you on it being superior to other cars in its class. At 650pp it is much slower than some of my other go - to cars like the Zonda LM, Mclaren F1 GTR, CLK LM, ect ect

I digress. Its a great car, but it isnt epic, or 'broken' in my opinion.

The 91 Viper is a bit too fast I think. It's much quicker than the #51 and the Corvettes. Several GT cars in the game are a lot faster than they should be.

I hadn't looked at the weight balance yet. I never really noticed the Vettes being so nose heavy compared to the Viper. I must say itis quite stable for being 48/52.

I drove both C5R and Viper bone stock, and saw the Viper has a few more P points, wich could just be due to a better stock tune.

Btw, that sound on the Viper GTS-R.... such an improvement :)
Think i'll have to tune my C5R and C6R a bit hehe :D

Edit:
Thanks for those links Retro. That was a real flashback. Also those Panoz LMP1's. Such a shame they did not live up to expectations.
