Again, I searched for something like this but nothing came up.

I don't have a land-line internet connection, only a usb dongle thing. I was just wondering if there's anybody else out there that is in the same situation as me. Sure, there's a few faults with it, but I still play it everyday. A Spec lvl 26, B Spec lvl 22. And I'm enjoying every minute, every car, every race.

My GT5 hasn't recieved any updates, it's original, straight out of the box, so I was just wondering if there is anyone else that is enjoying the game the way it came out as?

If the new GT5 on Platinum has a few updates on it, I might purchase it, but I don't know if it's worth the bother.

You don't want the updates or just can't get them? There are a few more worth while features to be had from updating.
 
You need to find a friend with high speed internet you can visit for a few hours. There are quite a few nice things patches brought us that would still be useful to someone offline.

I wouldn't mind them I guess. I haven't really been paying attention to the update news. I guess I don't what exactly has been updated.
 
If you check out the news blog on this site and read anything about the updates they have all the information about what was introduced and in which update. As mentioned before, you will need a broadband line to do it though.

I guess I wouldn't mind the Vettel Challenge times to be reduced a bit, as that's really the only update that I've heard of.
 
It's an update (Vettel times) that came as a welcome relief to most of us!

Also the AI seems to have been made more intelligent, the cars are now a lot more customisable and some new features like racing suits and helmets are pretty cool.
 
Well off the top of my head they sped up buying parts a bit. They also added tweaking to individual gear ratios. I think the Used Car Dealer actually cycles car colors too, so you don't see the same car in the same color all the time. You can also buy parts from the tuning screen before a race.
They also added a power limiter and ballast to add weight to your car if it was slightly over a HP or weight limit to enter a race.

I thought that about the suits too...but he can't actually earn any without being online. :(

Cool, I've heard the Vettel Challenge can be a pain, even WITH the update.
The cars are alot more customisable as in bodykits and such?

I don't really mind the UCD cars being the same colour, as my favourite colour in the game is the E Type Jag bronze. I have like 18 of them :dopey:

Ballast seems cool too, and buying parts before a race would've saved me some hassle a long time ago. And I'm not really that worried about the suits, I hardly ever pay any attention to them anyways.
 
Good thing about the original version is that the old bugs are there :lol:

And that you can complete the Nascar Special events alot easyer by turning ABS off.

Not to mention that the Alfa Romeo @ Suzuka licence test (S-8) can be completed with faster time for same reason , ASM not being locked in.

B-5 can be golded by ramming the wall on right , takes less than 3 seconds to hit the wall.

Not so usefull bug: At sertain size the save file stops receiving/recording data when you try to save the game. :grumpy:


Overall the exp you get in original is less than what you get in the current version.
This can lenghten the GT career life.

At some point I'm going to reinstall GT5 just to get to drive the S-8 licence test and submit the time to Tosk's Gold Junkies Site.

There was a update where FF LSD got deleted... Thats 7500 in the toilet... But then, money in the new GT5 is worthless, you have new events with one being 500.000 cr in 3-4 minutes... You just have to like it, there's also new suits, special events, and more i now probably forget.
 
you're all missing the most important thing, especially if you want to expand your collection. A fairly early update added a tick next to cars in the UCD if you already own it. If you aren't into collecting every car, etc then I guess it's not important.

I have 2 PS3s. One upstairs and one downstairs. The PS3 downstairs I have up to the most updated 1.11. That game is pretty much complete minus endurance races. So, I started a new game on the ps3 upstairs and have yet to download the updates...mainly because I dont wanna deal with it lol. The game is great either way but there is a pretty dramatic difference from the original version...especially the menus. The updated game is much more user friendly.

GET the updates, jagdrag77. Some of the features you won't be able to use, but there have been MANY MANY MANY offline tweaks to the game. MANY tweaks that make everything simpler and way better.

You mean ABS 10. No ABS would make it more difficult because you'd automatically be braking too hard. Alhough it's not realistic, since NASCAR cars don't have ABS if I'm not mistaken.
 
Also, you can view and save two player splitscreen replays, where as before one of the updates, there was no replays at all when playing split screen mode.

Oh yeah, and when creating a track, you can add banking to the turns, so each track now feels more legit. I myself find creating a course on the Toscana Tarmac, with the complexity between 6 and 10 for each section, and putting the bank angle slider around 8 for each section alot of fun. Sometimes now I'll just start the game and go right to the course creator, and quickly generate a course and just pick a random car and just take it for a spin.

Also, the PP system was introduced in one of the patches too. Every car has a Performance Point value, so you can compare cars easier pretty much. Useful when racing against other human opponents, whether online or in your case, for offline in splitscreen mode.

He doesn't mean ABS 10, he does mean ABS off, it's annoying with it because it makes the cars slower

This is really strange. For the Special Events, it was said that ABS 10 would help for that very reason that I said. Help to the point where it was easier to pass (I never tried it because I already golded them after countless hours). If you're going maximum speed, wouldn't you want the brakes to be as little sensitive as possible? No ABS would make the braking drastic and slow you down at very high speeds.

You probably mean the Braking Sensitivity to be at 0.

The ABS is connected to ASM and ASM slows you down significantly in the ovals.

The thing about Special event/Nascar events is that you don't need the brakes at all on ovals , not versus AI , that's for sure.

Having ABS 0 makes you about 20km/h ~12,5MPH faster on the oval in original version :lol:

Thanks for all the valuable imput guys.

I'm not really too keen on collect EVERY car as I'm not into the thousands of Mazda's etc. But a tick on the car I have in the UCD would be useful. Money isn't really a issue when you have B Spec. I guess I'll see what further updates come, and if there any good, then I'll decide from there.
