Which one do you prefer? I prefer oversteer because I think it's more fun and it makes you countersteer (which is something I like doing)

So which one do you prefer? And Why?

EDIT: Also, what do you think of countersteering? Do you like countersteering?

There is nothing I hate more than Understeering. I also do try to prevent Oversteering, but if it happens, i have fun countersteering

Countersteering is very enjoyable and its very important for Gymkhana which I do alot!
:D

Oversteer every time. If you get it wrong with oversteer it's fun trying to fix it. Understeer either makes you nearly stop to stay on track or you end up in a gravel pit for ages.

Oversteer all the way, baby.
I can't bare driving a car with large amounts of understeer.

Understeer. I like my setups a little stiffer. Oversteer and counter steering are definitely fun but, not when I'm trying to just relax and log laps.

What are your reasons? And you are the first person that has meantioned prefering understeering. Why is this? I hate understeer.

Maybe I'm new to the whole wheel thing but Over steering on the wheel for me is very hard to control without out violent counter steering, I am afraid to break the wheel lol. If I'm under steering I know i just need to slow down a little bit. Pad is a bit easier to control over steering for me.

Neutral blending into understeer is the way I like it but I prefer the technical description of this.

Understeer means you hit the barrier with the front end.

Oversteer means you hit the barrier with the rear end.

Have you voted for understeer in the poll? This is quite a close poll actually. If i didn't vote for oversteer it would've been a draw.

Oversteer definitely. When a car has oversteer I can account for it in my driving by reducing steering input and as a last resort countersteering out of the situation. With understeer there's not much you can do except slow down, and hope that the track is wide enough for you to take a shallower curve through the turn.

But then again what do you know, You're crazy ;). Only joking. Have you voted? And do you like countersteering?

I prefer a neutral car with a slight oversteer bias for when I want to have some fun.

If I'm driving by myself or just for fun, then oversteer (eg. Ferrari 512, Honda NSX)
If I'm in an online championship, understeer because it's easier to look after tyres with a high powered car if your not sliding everywhere :)

That's what trail braking is for.

Try trail braking in an overpowered FF car which is what I'm driving a lot of lately. All that weight up front makes it very hard to get enough bite with the rear tires to do any good.

Oh and even worse than on throttle understeer is lift off understeer, I mean the cars already going a direction you don't want, but instead of staying neutral, or turning in you just keep plowing wider.:scared:

And yes I voted for Oversteer. And when I plan for it like when drifting countersteering can be fun.

Yep, drifting and oversteering go well together because you can countersteer which is what drifting is about. Imagine understeering while trying to drift. That would be hell.
