Hmm....what if we gave a budget to get a car, and specified the type of car whether that be "front engine, rear drive, under 300hp", or whatever (thats just an example). Let's say the budget is 40,000. Then, before the race, I give a specified budget for upgrades, and you cannot go over it. We could do that around North American bedtime Friday.

That way, we'd be able to paint our cars, but not tune then. Speaking of tuning, we could - again relying on the honor system - say no tuning. So if that budget for parts is 20000, you can buy that suspension, but can't touch it afterward
From just looking at the UCD, 40,000 won't get you far, coz prices ranged all over the place. Might have to look in New Car Dealership. That would take some time. What happened to the old UCDs from prior GTs where there were lots of affordable cars?

My take on Race 2. Start was good & then field kinda spread out. @permaculture & I had a bit of a battle for a few laps, he got by when I went wide & he was gone. @Benny44 got alongside me on last lap going downhill, but he didn't pass me.

There was a bit of a "Dog Fight" for a few laps.

I didn't see this until after I replied on PSN, seems we were thinking the same thing. There's plenty of cars at 40k and under, I beleive

Bennys Race (Main Event 30min) Lobby for the afternoon/evening here in the States. Sounded like it would be open at 7PM EST. If the fellow didn’t get called into work. In the case that they do have to work I will host the lobby PSN LuckyyDawgg or PSN rw19bw8690

Wow, your first online win was with us & we're glad it was. 👍:)

We try our darndest to race clean & vs @permaculture, I tried not to mess him up by blocking him. He said I didn't & we may have a rematch. :D

Waiting to see what next Wednesday brings. :scared::mischievous::nervous:

Edit; As far as tuning goes, we try to help each other. So feel free to ask if you're having any issues with your tune, although it looks like you're doing quite wellth

Thank you! And I’ll definitely be asking for tuning advice. It’s one part of the game that still eludes me. The only thing I did to the Miata was drop the top speed and then adjust sixth gear with a tip from @permaculture, which was really helpful.

Some of the goings on in @Benny44's Enduro. First off I have to say sorry to @LuckyyDawgg for punting him off track. :guilty: The rest of the race was clean with little battles going on everywhere. Hats off to @permaculture for an excellent 3 wins.:bowdown::bowdown:

Tuning is usually based on your preference as to how your car handles.

Here's my shopping list for every car; power restrictor & ballast, fully customizable computer, LSD, suspension & transmission, racing brakes & pads, racing clutch & flywheel, brake balance controller & custom prop shaft (if applicable).

For 4WD; torque-vectoring center diff & steering angle adapter (optional).

Once you have all the go faster parts, get the weight reduction stages you need to balance the car (the closer to 50/50 the better) & to meet requirements.

You can install a front air dam, rear splitter & wing if you want, to change downforce. (all optional)

Now you can adjust any setting you wish to make your car handle the way you want it to.

Some of it is confusing & usually I make few changes to most default settings. I will change camber, toe, ride height, downforce, weight distribution & brake balance.

Hope all this helps.

we're trying out a new thing with @Benny44 's approval, and would be happy if anyone of you could join!

basically, the discord page for the Sunday morning race was really active with people who care too much about the outcomes of the races. as a result, many novice and relaxed drivers became a little stressed out... part of it was the amount of prep that suddenly seemed necessary, but also folks seemed to realize there was a lot they didnt know about the game.

so, we are starting a little “club”, called Le Club des Petits Gâteaux, to run on wednesday evenings (room opening 8pm EST / 5pm PST, at least to start!) and maybe cover some elements of tuning and racing that people arent so confident on. tomorrow night we are going to run the Alfa Veloce '67, two sprint races, aiming to be done just after the hour. the spec is the stock setting - 104hp, 2293lbs (sorry i quoted that to you wrong @PapaGnr lol) - but you can upgrade the car however you dang please in order to meet that standard. the idea will be to show how many different ways there are to get to a usable, fast car.... and also how the tune kinda only matters if you understand everything else going on in the race. the skill levels of people involved are all over the place but the spirit will be fun and relaxed.... and people running faster will be eager to explain how/why.

anyways, let me know if you have any questions. There is a flag for it on the discord but quite frankly I don’t blame anyone for adding another app to their phone. if it gets traction i'll post in here after benny's race to fill everyone in on the upcoming weeks theme, etc.

Hello everyone! The first official week of Le Club des Petits Gâteaux is upon us! Our theme for this week will be Volkswagen vs Renault. The car requirements are:

VW Golf GTI ‘83, VW Golf GTI ‘14, Renault R5 Turbo ‘80, or Renault Clio RS 220 Trophy ‘15/ ‘16.

HP max- 211
Weight min.- 2,390lbs (1,084kg)

Tires: Sports Soft

Hit these target numbers any way you like- whether it’s a turbo + power restrictor, weight reduction + ballast, etc. Nitrous is the only mod that is not allowed.

This league works like this- we typically announce the info above on Sundays, but don’t release track info until 30 minutes before the race begins on Wednesday. This is to ensure everyone goes into the race on as equal footing as possible and doesn’t favor those with more time to practice. After the race we’ll compare set-ups, driving lines, etc. If you want to learn more about the game, or simply have fun with easygoing racers, this is the place for you! Veterans and beginners alike are welcome and encouraged to ask questions. A lot of these conversations happen on discord as well, so feel free to join us there too at https://discord.gg/NY7MbdPJ

Hope to see you all Wednesday!

Lobby will open at 8pm EST / 5 pm PST / 12am GMT (please confirm if you’re not sure, I don’t want to guess at timezones!)
Hi
I'm planning to have Thursday 29th June off work and hope to join youse all.
I will be going out the night before so not guaranteed.
I may also be hungover so please keep your expectations low, like underground low.
Like Sambabus-with-comfort-hards-in-torrential-rain low.

you got me thinking what the worst one to do hungover would be... i arrived at 'f1 cars at northern isle'. i'd be done immediately lmao.

but seriously i hope you can join us! it was great having a few of these 'spec races with friends' last week, and looking forward to tomorrows hatch-war.

What'd be worse than an F1, is the wacko Tomahawk. Took it around the Ring sober once in GT6 or GTS (not sure which) on a dare with a friend & talk about a wild ride (vomit comet). :ill: ;)

Both would be terrible, especially since I use cockpit view 🤮
I may have to behave myself the night before so i'm bright eyed for the race😁👍

I knew it was an accident brother I heard it in your voice when you said OH ****! Lol I got a good laugh out of it
Thanks for this. It wasn't that hard of a bump, :ouch: but with PD's idiotic crash physics, :dunce: you shot across the track like a cannon ball into the wall. :banghead: Luckily there was a gap. 👍

This does help, thank you! I had never bought brake balance controllers or LSDs before reading this (and I’m still figuring them out) but they’ve been really helpful in preparing my petits gâteaux car this week! I may have to ask for some specifics at some point, but this has been a great start!

You're welcome. Sounds like you do have a fair bit of tuning knowledge already. 👍 To be honest, I'm still learning about it.

The Week 1 event of Le Club des Petits Gâteaux is going live in 5! Hop on multiplayer and join the room titled “Les Club des Petits Gâteaux - OldWeird&Slow” hosted by @permaculture for a joint 30-minute practice and tuning session before the first race begins at 8:30pm EST. And if you can’t make the first race, join us for our second race sometime between 8:40 and 8:45pm EST!

Tonight we’ll be racing at Brand’s Hatch (GP Circuit). Also… you might want to also buy some sports hard and/ or sports medium tires for the car you will be racing because there will be tire wear for the second race tonight! Please note that everyone must start on sports soft tires for both races, but may change to sports medium or hard at a pit stop (or stops) if you desire.

Come join us and let’s see what everyone has been baking this week!

Thank you & @permaculture for setting this up. Great battles & great races. 👍

"Cake Wars" race 1 sprint was a close affair, with a decent turnout. Very close finish with @ritualskydivr just nosing out @permaculture.

What I failed to add was all the other go fast add-ons you can buy. Turbos, superchargers, exhaust systems, air cleaner can all be added or removed to change power output. The engine internals, such as high lift cam or rods & pistons, etc, you CANNOT remove. Not sure if an engine rebuild will remove them.

Weight reductions 1-5 cannot be removed except by rebuilding the body.

"Cake Wars" race 2 was a mini enduro. Fuel & tire strategy were key. A few mistakes were made by most of us.

My big mistake was, checking messages in PSN & blowing the start. DOH. :banghead: Good thing I started near the back.

Looking forward now to @Benny44's Grand Tour on Saturday & next Wednesday's "Le Club des Petites Gâteaux" event.
