I've been practicing with the tuned Z06 , and the best I could get up to now is 2:05.XX , is this a good time? I haven't joined any online races and won't do until I can get the best time I can I think I can lower it to 2:04.xx and maybe when my DFGT and Rinoseat comes I can lower it more as I can't get the precision I want with the DS3 with a rear wheel car I can't accelerate early out of a corner as the car is very sensitive to throttle and steering input.

I still can't get a couple clean laps in succession just means I have to practice more and learn the track as I play Fuji more than Suzuka .

I rarely do 750pp, but when I do, that's the car I use.
My best free-run lap was 2:02.662s, but with some more practice, a 2:01 or maybe even a 2:00 is possible on that car.

Hotlapping and racing are two very different things. You should get out there and race if you want to be sure you can race good, not lap perfect times. This applies even more to Fuji than Suzuka because the fastest line is not always the best line at that track and also a lot of the newer drivers don't seem to realise that some of the fast lines are on the outside and mistakenly think you've gone wide and try to overtake and get in the way.

When you're in a race, there is so much more to think about than just getting your braking points perfect or hitting every apex. You need to actually go slightly slower, to allow for mistakes and other cars and to give room to people.

However, if you really need it, yes 2.05.xxx is a good time, its not best possible, but do not take that harshly, you'd have to be really pulling out all the stops to get anywhere below 2.03.xxx/2.04. A decent tune helps too.

In fact, half the collisions online I think are caused by people trying to take their hotlapping lines rather than actually trying to race around other people.

Umm , either I'm doing something wrong or my car is setup wrong or maybe both :( , 3-5 sec is way to much :( more practice for me I guess . May I ask which set your using ?

I think it's TLD's setup, but not sure. But it probably is.
The car is very easy to control, you can always push it a bit harder everytime. 👍

after taking a MGS4 break from GT5P i came back and did a race with the tuned vette and found it surprisingly easy to control, i figured after a week i would be all over the track, however i was consistently getting 2nds (im not that great of a driver)

Like Ardius says get out there and race, it's nothing like free runs, as another fairly new driver, take it easy at the start of a race, most mistakes happen on the first corner through being to eager, the race is 3+ laps, if you do go off, take it easy for a few corners as the tyres loose grip, mirrors, mirrors, let faster drivers pass you when you can, more than likely if they are not tags they're going to punt you and finally use the race to practice and you will see that you'll finish higher and higher

don't forget that if you are near the front of the race you get grip penalties and have to brake far far earlier for many corners than if you are near the back of the race and don't have those penalties...

Racing online is all about defensive lines, using your mirrors, being aware of other cars, making yourself as difficult a target as possible for the idiots trying to nudge you off the track, and doing all this while still being fast no matter how stupid PD's rubber-banding effect slows you down.

Just doing 3 clean mistake-free laps gets you a top 3 finish in many Suzuka 750PP races :)

P.S. The TLD Z06/tuned setup is really good, stable, fast and easy to drive. I tried a quick free run with it and hit 2:04 or so, but you can consistently hit those times whereas cars like the Amuse and Ford GT LM require considerably more effort to keep the car doing what it should, so more chance of making a mistake.

OK I just started doing some races ...etc , its fun but getting ramed in the back and off the track isn't .

Tell if I did anything wrong, For example I started 2nd on the grid I know some cars are faster than me so I stick to the outside line into the first corner some cars crash infront of me and I'm still on the outside then boom I half way across the gravel :( . When I try and pass cars I try not to be over ambitious I will try to pass when the moment is right even if it means following them for a few corners or a lap maybe . I passed one car on the start finish line took the slip stream went on the inside and then out braked him for the first corner , boom he slams my back .

Anyway really good experince wish the races were a bit cleaner though

Yeah, the outside of turn 1 (especially on the 1st lap) is never a good idea, although sometimes you can't help it. You're a sitting duck for rammers and just unfortunate accidents that happen.

While overtaking with slipstream, unless you're getting a safe distance or just trust the guy behind you, it's wise to not pull back right in front of them before the brake. 👍

Yeah but hot lapping is very good FOR racing..You learn the braking points and where to push your car when needed..Where the good passing points are. Hot lapping is great..Not necessarily the time but you end up knowing the track better..

O and for set up...SLAM THE CAR!! Make the front of the car eat the pavement.. Max turning angle to 50. Those two are a must on your set up...

For the start, The outside is the last place you want to be. Noobs are looking for a rail to slam into to keep them out of the sand, so they turn to the lone person in the outside of the corner..lol...As for the guy the slammed into your bumper, there's prob two reasons for that..A.) You broke early ( But you stated that you out broke him) so that's out of the question and B.) These my friend, are called, "Punters" They can't stand losing. They'll do anything to beat up, even if that means taking you out.

Well I didn't pull to the outside I just stuck to the line as I wanted to avoid getting rammed at teh back which still happened. You know the first turn is like made of 2 turns the first slight one and the 2nd hard one, I outbroke him in the first part and stayed on the inside going over teh curb thats where he hit me . Hope it makes sense.

I'm also racing the Z06 and on the time attack my best was a 2.00,xxx.
If i drive more clean rounds like in a race i can drive 2.02 times without getting any trouble.
