Paddle Shifter not functioning randomly: T500 RS and Custom Wheel

Not sure where else to ask, and at the moment I am not sure what is the problem as recreation of it is inconsistent. I've recently bought a used Sam Maxwell Custom wheel for my T500RS, for the most part its been pretty fantastic. However once in a while I notice it does this weird thing that is baffling to me. Normally the upshift and down shift paddles work just fine, and I've had sessions where I'd be playing all day, running races with no issue whatsoever, then all of a sudden I can pull the upshift paddle, instead of upshifting I get a ABS +1(this is in Assetto Corsa on PC), and pull the downshift I start to look behind me. And it would keep doing this for like 10 sec and and revert back to normal again. I dunno whats going on and I am hesitant to take the wheel apart. While the wheel is used it doesn't seem to be abused or nothing looks to be obviously at fault(and to be honest the build quality looks better than TM's stuff anyway). I can sit in the TM Profiler all day pressing the buttons while turning, pulling the wheel and it won't do it at all. I am guessing its some kind of short or something but I have no idea where it might be? I am open to the idea of maybe sending the wheel to Sam and let him "refurbish" it if he does something like that, but I don't know if the wheel is actually at fault.

Any ideas?

I have this issue also with the authentic thrustmaster F1 rim add on, I only have it on PC with iracing, I switch back to the original rim for a day then switch back and all is good for a solid amount of time, though its infrequent so its a pain, there's no signs of it going to do it and happens anytime, though I've never had this issue on Pcars or AC on PS4,

Because the nature of the problem its really hard to reproduce it. Played E3E for a few hours yesterday and no issue. Boot back into AC and had the problem in the first 30 min. I noticed in AC it is often right when you start, or right after you pause or spin or something. But I've also had it happen just out of nowhere running down a straight. So again, just lots of head scratching. I've never had it with the TM stuff before(I've had other issue of phantom button presses where the game just pauses or the PS button got pressed without me pressing it). Yeah its kinda baffling.
