I wanted to repaint my prize car Shelby Cobra from the ugly green to a light blue while keeping the skunk stripes. To make sure I wouldnt paint over the stripes I tried repainting my ugly orange dodge challenger with black racing stripes and ta-da! the stripes were still there. So I go to repaint my Cobra and ta-da! the stripes are gone :(
Also I dont get why they show you a little model with what the paint job would look like and then 2 seconds later when you pay for the paint job it shows the car with the new paint. Why dont they just let you see the paint on the car before you erase your old paint job...

That's sad. So somethings may stay or go depending on the car.

Can you paint the veyron different colours? As in black main body and blue sides. Hope so, not saving up 2 mil, it takes too long.

Unfortunately no, I lost my two tone after I painted my Veyron, now it's solid blue. :ouch:

I was mad at the RM z06 couldn't change the rear end color. Atlases I tried a fugly color to test and not the one I wanted at first. Now I'm looking for a yellow car.

The Viper ACR will also lose the stripes if you paint it.

It seems a no-brainer that a car should NOT lose it's stripes if you paint it. Heck, you should be able to paint the car whatever color you want and the stripes whatever color you want.

If you want to see what a car looks like in a color just paint it and if you don't like it quit the game using the ps3 button. The car will be the old color when you restart.

The Veyron will be all one color if you paint it. I won a Veyron for something or other and it was the ugliest green ever, so I painted it Titanium.

a smarter thing would have been to press □ for a preview and to add a second color option

body color
stripe color

also it seems that what ever color you change your car too the seats will change as well

i had a ferrari california which was an ugly light green with brown seats, i painted it black, i get black seats. just like it is in the line up or the paint also paints the car seats

The Veyron looks best in solid black anyway :)

How can you get that to work?

You can´t. That´s why he said: A SMARTER THING WOULD HAVE BEEN TO...

But unfortunately, some things are not so smart in this game...

i was hoping to paint mine white to get the acr-x look. but now i have an odd looking soild color acr viper...

Single tone Bugattis just don't look right. Mine is York green now....

You can't have preview of a new paint in real life thought...so in my oppinion, no preview is another step in making GT5 more realistic.
I like it how it is now, you can get extremly suprised after you paint a car.

I painted the Alfa Romeo GIULIA TZ2 black just to see what it looked like. To my surprise the livery was still there, though I didn't save it. My Citreon GT Race Car does the same. Are all race cars this way or only premiums?

The Ford GT will keep it's stripes when you paint it. If you paint it a dark color you get light stripes and vice versa.

The Shelby Series 1 keeps it's stripes too but they turn into a slightly darker matte version of the body color, so the effect is really subtle.

Yeah, I've thought about it from that perspective too so I can understand the lack of a preview. However, you can always photoshop a picture of your car to preview a paint change IRL :p

Was going to mention the Ford GT but you beat me to it :)

Well that sure stinks.

Though I can sort of understand why this happens. They'd need a second stripe colour and then to recognize if they should use the light or dark variations. Not too hard, but more small oversights I guess.

Really? Well how come I've seen in done before? On one of those HD channels I saw them slap the car in the computer, punch in a color code and viola there's a simulation of what your car would look like with "X" color on it. And , check this out, the PS3 is nothing but a computer!

I bought Ford GT'06 and chose the one without stripes, just plain solid colour.

Later on I repainted it and suddenly there was the stripes !!!

I don't like that, but I don't find any way to remove the stripes.

what if you use the paint chip from a car that has stripes? will you get the stripes on the car even if the car didn't originally have stripes?

That would be to easy. And yes your right about seeing a preview I used to paint and had all that fun stuff. I painted one of my camaro's with km blue with red and silver stripes and all I got was blue

from my experiences, the premium Ford GT gets the strips along the car and the stripes and words 'Ford GT' along the side when you paint it; no matter what original color and strip scheme you originally bought it in. I bought it plain red, with none of the strips and when i test painted it a chameleon color, tah-dah, stripes.
The Audi R8 also looses any color on the side panel that is just behind the door. When you paint the car, that part looses it's original color and is just carbon fiber. which in my opinion is the best way for it.
some little FYI.
