Let's go karting

A while back, I got the opportunity to commission a tune from the Dragonistic from TLD. I decided to give him a challenge and tune a 550PP F40 with the intention of setting up a race with it. The result is great and I have deemed it worthy for a one make race. The car itself isn't very competative, but if everyone has the same tune and prize money is no object, then this should be buckets of fun. The tune characteristics are amazingly close to that of a go-kart. The driver is able to really belt it round corners in amazingly fast, accurate and stable drifts that have a low angle to maximise forward motion. Contrary to popular belief, this car is no harder to keep on the black stuff under power as most other cars.

Here is the tune:

Description: The last car commisioned by the legendary Enzo Ferrari, a truly awesome piece of passion and mechanics. The F40 in it's day was far ahead of it's time, however in a world of 3 letter abbreviations (TCS, VCD, LSD, VVT anyone?) it's become overshadowed by faster, newer more technological cars. However, no amount of technology can get you away from that roaring V8 sitting just behind you, nor can technology give you the same experience, the same visceral feeling of being truly involved in the drive that the F40 gives by the bucket load.
Be careful, no fancy AWD systems here to save you when things go wrong.

Tracks Tuned For/On:
Suzuka

Tuner's Notes:
Extreme care must be taken at all times, a car with this much power on such low grip tyres will break loose under even small amounts of throttle. However some tiny amounts of throttle can help you hold a small slide without breaking into a full drift to get around some corners at maximum speed.

The brake will help you turn into a small slide on Turn 1 as well, this effect is extremely helpful, just let the brake do most of the work and you won't need much steering inputs to get you into the second apex.

This car is by no means perfect, but it's a joy to drive at the expense of speed in this event, it's difficult to describe everything about this treasure of a car, you'll just have to try it yourself.

Good luck brave warriors.

If you like to comment on this tune, TLD would love to hear from you.

Hope to see you on the track 👍

Allright. :) Could try this. Looks like fun. 👍

Using that tune is mandatory? I'm ok with it, just chekcing.

yes. I've specified the characteristics to promote lots of overtaking. The car is really stable during drifts (like...unbelievably) but the car does need to be taken when braking for a corner.

Hope to see you on the track:tup:

I'll be up for a few tonight, sounds like fun and I absolutely love the F40....a very under-used car!! 👍

I'm sorry to say that I won't be doing too much racing untill the weekend - but I may have a chance tomorrow

Karting! I love Karting.:D I haven't been out in my kart for ages.:(

I'll join you here sometimes if I can round up some of the AU/NZ crowd.👍

please do - spread the word. 👍

Will do, looks like a fun event. I've always stayed away from the F40 due to thinking it was too  But lately i've been enjoying challenging combo's.:D

To me, the the gears were maybe a little too short, since it starts to lose some grunt after 7k rpm. Otherwise the tune was nice. :)

Well if anyone's on during the weekend I will be up for some racing.;):)

Sound fun, handels great...but i can't join.

All of you guys agreed on being faster while i'm not :( I gave a go and found i'm way too slower than my avg. lap times 12 sec slower :odd:

Have fun guys and 👍 TLD for such a tune

This tune wan't supposed to be competative. Everyone is running around 10 seconds slower that usual. The 2.28 I had was with as much luck as you could possibly ask for. Average lap times for me are around the 2.30 mark.

No promises I'm joining yet now, I have no wheel and no idea when I'm getting a new one. You can read about it in TLD.:irked:

Thats good news!
I tried it last night and could only get it to settle around the 2.30 mark aswell
:indiff:
Thought i was way too slow....would not like to try and race anybody who was not in the same car though.
See you on track:tup:

Finally beat GT5P Single player again and got the F40 to have a crack at this...anyone still playing it?

Been testing the Ferrari @ 550pp and averaging 2:29s with a lap record of 2:28.8 in Free run. Definantly a 2:27 to come with a bit more time put into it but i dont see it going too much faster than that. Running N3's, No TC/SC/ABS but i am using my own setup, not the one listed above.

going to be on for :10!

Just did 3 laps and i must say it seems fun. I like it because you really need to me a sensible driver with that setup / car.

But to say Lets go karting i was expecting something else, cause karts have lots of grip... so ya :D

but anyhow, looking forward to the race at :10

OK this is fun. after another 3 laps, i clocked a 2.28.4**

Anyone going to be on?

Chris
