Here we go, Panasonic make the screen ( someone makes the speakers built in or separate ) Intel make the hardware to make the tv switch on etc and Microsoft or Apple make the software so you have a start menu like Windows has. With connections for Intel's IPTV system.

S&S.

That idea was done nearly 20 years ago by Compaq CDTV:

Had a TV tuner built in (you couldn't use it in Windows, it as purely to drive the screen), but also had a 486 DX2 66-based PC

I had a 486 DX2 once, remember playing doom with pc speaker for sound. how could it get any better than that?

We used to have an Apple Performa which had a built in TV tuner, you could watch and record TV on it... at a tiny, tiny resolution. I tried hooking my Mega Drive II up to it but I couldn't see what was going on and there was a good half second of lag, so I stopped trying.

I was just thinking with today's technology it could be done.So you could have a 60 inch OLED screen that sits in your lounge and it basically does both.No need for a TV licence fee anymore at all.You would need sound/graphics cards etc though which could make it produce alot of fan noise/heat.Never mind the idea has already been done DOH.
