I've compared some of the touring cars... Is it just me or is the BMW the underdog with less power and more weight?

320i Touring Car '03 - 261HP / 1140KG
A4 Touring Car '04 - 462HP / 1080KG
Abt Audi TT-R Touring Car '02 - 471HP / ??KG
Honda Integra Type R Touring Car - 321HP / 1050KG
Mazda Atenza Touring Car - 311HP / 1070KG
Open Astra Touring Car (Opel Team Phoenix) '00 - 462HP / 1000KG
Mercedes-Benz CLK Touring Car '00 - 452HP / 1000KG

Has anyone tried racing online in the touring car classes? What cars are the most equal? Personally I'm a big fan of BMW - but it seems so underpowered.

The highlighted cars while listed as "touring car" are actually DTM cars so they are expected to be way more powerful. The equivalent car is the BMW M3 GTR, its around the same power to weight.
 
You're both so right! Didn't think of it. I'm trading a M3 GTR tomorrow! ;)

So the Integra and 320i should go along just fine?

Make sure you get the BMW M3 GTR race car '01 and not the regular GTR.

The Integra is probably faster than the 320i as its lighter and has more hp, the 320i does have rwd though but thats not enough of an advantage.
 
BMW M3 is very powerful. the 320i is no big deal and you can't even use it to race the DTC Championship :(

I also have a Mazda6 Touring Car... pairs with the 320i ;)

I love my Mazda6 Touring car and have been using it a lot online. It pairs very well with heavily modified small street cars (GTi's, Integras, Miatas, etc)
 
Tuned...

Is stupid to tune a car that has to meet racing regulations.

Then I might aswell throw an LMP into the mix. They do like 1000hp tuned.

Oh, well, stupid onliners. Tuned plus racing super super super softs. That's all you see online.

And is a tremendous waste of money to tune (for A-spec) when you can win the DTM races with any of the DTM cars including the Lexus, stock.

A lot of my main race cars (Epson NSX, Alfa 155, even my GT By Citroen and Minolta Toyota) I have purchased level 2 and 3 turbo upgrades for specifically for online racing. This way I can mod the horsepower on the fly to suit the room I am in. I can take them off when I wanna run the car stock, but unfortunately its nearly impossible to get into an online event with stock race cars, everyone jacks them up :( .

I even tried to get a "Stock" DTM race going a couple times.... I spent about half an hour driving around the Nurburgring by myself before I gave up.
 
Maybe you were not lucky being a part of the maximum of 99 lobbys which are shown to other players. I experienced that alot too in the past.
I had no problem to host a race around GT5s release and get participants, but now i waste my time waiting.

BTW Alfa Romeo 155 is not at this list.

Neither is the Lexus, but both are the same class as the cars on this list, the OP just didn't realize it.

As for the lobbies, they do continuously rotate, so someone eventually sees it, I've had no problem with other rooms, but as soon as I ask for Stock DTM or Stock Super GT noone wants to do it.
