Just wanted to report a problem I've been having for a long time, now. It's been getting worse lately.
What happens, is only part of the page I'm viewing loads. It skips a bunch of posts, the Quick Reply box, and site info, but the page links are still sometimes at the bottom of the page.
It looks like this:
gtphalfloadscreenshot2mn.jpg

Typically, one or two refreshes of the page will cure this, but recently the pages have refused to load entirely, with over a dozen refreshes and no full result.
I'm not sure that it makes a difference, but I'm viewing 100 posts per page.

Just thought that I'd report this, I'm not sure if anyone else is getting this.

I haven't experienced it myself but I'm suspecting the 100posts/page is causing it. I used to have it that way and it would take forever to load. Sometimes less is better :sly:

I only have a similar problem like this when my internet is capped to 64k, even then if I wait a little longer if finishes. 100 posts per page wouldn't help.

Hm... I'll try having fewer posts per page.

Edit - A bit better, still not perfect. I'm on 40 posts per page, though.

What's your internet connection speed? You may just be trying to download too much at once and something is aborting.

I have this all of the time, but refreshing it always fixes it up.
I go 20 post per page and/or forum default.
On a different note, sometimes when I click new posts it says 'please wait 2 seconds before searching again'. I thought this was due to my double clicking, but single clicking sometimes does this too.
Anyway, try 20 posts per page, and if that doesnt work your screwed.
GTP is great but the server seems to have many problems--slow load times, partial loads, occasional freezes or 'page unavailables'. Hope you fix them, Jordan! ;)

Try going to this other forum I go to which also uses vBulletin. Its slower then this!

Slicks, what type of internet connection are you on, and what browser are you using? Once again, that's a problem I have encountered only one or two times in over 5 years of using the site.

It's really dissappointing to hear that the site is slow for you guys, especially after all I have invested to ensure it loads quickly. The site is blazing fast for me, and I've accessed it from several dozen PC's on virtually every type of internet connection. What sites do you guys consider to be extremely quick?

I think these porblems might be localised, Jordan.

I often access GTP from a dial-up Internet connection, and it's not what I'd call slow.

Sure, images in posts slow things a little, but that's to be expected. Just a plain page of posts (20 per page) and avatars has no problems loading in just a few seconds.

Very happy. 👍

And, of course, at work it's superfast with their large Internet connection. :D

Well, my computer isnt exactly fast, but its a 2 year old Dell desktop. It IS pretty slow on most sites, but GTP is as you say, 'blazing fast'. However, for me at least, that is not the issue. The issue is that almost once every twenty minutes, the site freezes up and does not load, doesnt load for a long time, or partially loads until refreshed. This includes pages without pictures or any such large slow loading files.
But this happens quite often on my school's new, top-of-the-range DELL PCs that arrived 4 days ago.
And these are not the only issues. Other issues include the 'our database isnt working, refresh it' which happens about once every half hour, and caused only 5 members to be online this afternoon at around 3 PM, and the bug where the site automatically logs you out. The latter however can be fixed by checking the 'remember me' option in the login box.

I also cant seem to be able to upload a new avatar, although Ive only tried 7 pics so far, and that may be only me. Its quite frustrating though.

The site usually logs you out if you don't go off a page for a while, I'm guessing some kind of security issue.
Personally I havn't had any problems with the site since the time GTP was being upgraded. In my case I have to congratulate Jordan with a job well done.

No, its never done that to me for hours... wiat thats cuz I click remember me.
But in school computers, it happens all the time and the most I stay on one page is less than the time it took to write this post (4 and a half minutes)

Jordan, I'm using IE6 on a cable connection.
It's not an issue of being slow, but simply not finishing. Quite literally, half the page will load and the scroll bar will be bottomed out.

Yes, for me it IS slow quite often, although thats prolly my pc/connection, but more often it loads one post or a few posts and either takes forever to or doesnt load:
A) the rest of the page
OR
B) the post box.

This site is sometimes slow on me, especially when I'm scanning my computer; other than that, just like Jordan said, it is blazing fast. Although sometimes my quick reply takes longer than the full reply to post (once it took my computer 2 minutes to post at quick reply)

That's the only problem I ever have. I rarely use quick reply anymore because, like you say, it takes longer to quick reply then to full reply.

I've never had any problems with speed. I'm on a 512 connection, it's fine all the time. Using fasterfox, I've got some times for loading up various pages.

GTP Forum Main - 3.4s
Rumble Strip - 4.2s
Last page of the 'The Picture battle' - 21.4s

If you're still having trouble. Try GTP lite?

Wow. The last page of "the picture battle" only takes me about 3 seconds. Everything works great for me, except, like Duck said, when the whole site is having problems.

I have had the quick reply box problem of it not loading before, but I think it was during the site's facelift earlier this year. I can't help you.

Coming back to this thread to see keef's reply only took me little over 2 seconds. When pictures are loading, maybe 15-25 seconds, depending on the size of the picture and whether if it uses thumbnails or not. My internet's T1 (1.5mbps) and I use wireless.

"The picture battle" page took my PC about 30 seconds to load @ 20 post's per page on a 1Megabyte broadband connection but my pooters a piece of 🤬?

I assumed this was normal for a PC the age and spec of mine, the only other problems I've had are posting replies and being randomly logged out and still showing up as logged in on the home screen.

Seems to be OK now though, they've been doing alot of work on the site this week I think?

When my broadband was at full speed, I didn't have a problem, barely had a chance to blink, before I had to start reading. But I have been shaped to 64k, and it's really hit and miss, but it's not just GTP, MSn keeps dropping out, I can't view my usual 15-20 pages at once (3-4 tabs is all it can handle right now)

-edit-

WTF?????

I can't help you with internet connectivity problems, but that screenshot there simply occurs when the style sheet (which contains formatting instructions for the page) was not downloaded to your browser for whatever reason.

I'm noticing a pageload problem, too. When I reply to a thread, and hit "submit", the page goes blank and it says "stopped" down in the bottom bar of my browser (meaning it's not loading or finished). Refresh doesn't work, I have to click back and THEN refresh.

That happens when someone else posted while you were replying, or your comment went to the next page. I usually just click the bar where the website is typed in and hit go again.
