Since 3 PM yesterday, I've been racing my Bentley Speed 8 around the Test Course on Practice mode. As of this morning, I'm almost sure I went past the 1600 lap mark (B-Spec...at least to my memory I did 1600 laps during the night). My goal is to see how many laps I can do. You never know--maybe in a week I'll have a record for most miles accumulated on a car and most miles accumulated on one stint.

Cheer me on :D 👍

So, are you doing any of this yourself. You mentioned B spec. This seems more like, "who can go the longest without playing PS2!". Or, "Who's PS2 can stay on the longest!"

After doing that you may want to check your HP. I did that with my R92 for an entire day on Sarthe 2 just because my B-spec driver couldn't stay on the track after the straight. He ended up with about 9,000 miles but after doing the oil change a chasis refresh the car was still about 100 HP short of what it used to be. I wasn't sure if it could be fixed or not and just decided to take the weakened R92 to the Fuji 1000km race to win its own replacement car. Kind if like having a tech guy train his replacement just before you fire him. After winning and tuning the new car I sold the old one for about $693,000.

On a side note, he stays on the track now on speed 3 or lower and actually pulls an extremely good time, just over 3 minutes I think. He also gained a ton of B-Spec points. His total run length in about 15 hours real time, 45 hours game time, was 867 laps. I'm considering doing that to him on every track just to ensure that he learns the tracks without a problem.

Anyway, the point is, I hope you don't mind having to win another car because if you intend to save the progress earned you will need one. I guess driving that hard for that long without an oil change just wears down the engine. That or the game just factors wear and tear in and accounts for it by draining the HP.

It'll be interesting to see what sort of condition that poor Speed 8 is in at the end.

Personally, I think maybe one of the many CLK-GTRs you can win while quickly B-Spec spamming the DTM might've been a better choice for the job than the precious Bentley, but that's just me...

Yeah, when I saw what car it was a cringed. Considering I haven't won it yet made me feel a twinge of jealousy that he would just waste it like that. It's like the guy in high school who gets the sports car from his dad and then totals it. Once you found out he was okay you just want to go slap him on principle.

I've had mine on for three or four days straight now; I did Nurburgring 24h, Tuskuba 9h, Fuhi 1000km, Laguna Seca 200mi in the 88C-V, and now I'm doing Saarthe I 24h in the F1 car.

I know there are people out there who've had theirs on longer, but my PS2 has been off once in over a month and I only turned it off then to plug it into a battery backup, in case of, you know, power outage....

The longest my PS1 was ever on, actually, was two weeks. I used the perfect balance cheat on Tony Hawk 2 in the Philadelphia level, and had my guy doing his special grind around the pool until it locked up at 999,999,999 points (if I remember correctly).

Here are some details:

I have an ARMAX code for "all cars are free" so I can just go out and buy any car I want. I chose the speed 8 because it was the fastest in my garage. My goal in doing these laps is just so I can find out:

1) How many laps the game can record.
2) How many miles I can put on a car in one stint.

I use B-Spec whenever I'm either sleeping, eating, going away or at school (so I don't use A-spec much). Then I do A-spec everywhere else. So there's a mix between the two. I have the car tuned up so it can do 250+ MPH on straightaways, and whenever I have it on B-Spec, I put the game on 3X.

And if the car gets worn out, well, that's why I have an "all cars are free" code. I'm currently past 2460 laps and the total time so far is 66'35'xxx. I'm not doing this for braging rights, but after I find out I'll do it again by A-Spec (it'll take a little longer though ;) )

For me, that would spoil about 80% of the fun. I drive so i can get cars (and for the pleasure of driving). If i was to do 1600+ laps, I would A-spec it, for sure. B-spec - anyone can do it.

...And usually the cars I get are race cars that I don't care to drive unless I need it to win a race. Hey, people have fun doing different things, and I'm just taking advantage of B-spec. Going fast is only fun for a while, and I like driving the slower cars for just regular driving (Toyota Priuses, Honda Fit, Mitsubishi Colt). But the 2005 Golf GTI--I love that car 👍

And really, how many people do you know of that have 100,000 miles on their car? I should have that amount by the end of the week if I keep the PS2 going long enough... :)

Fair enuff... just my view.

A question though - what pace have you left it on?? I'm thinking of doing this when I start my summer job (leaving the PS2 running whilst at work). For a slower car I would have thought 4, maybe 5 if he can handle it? But for that bentley... i hear that the B-spec driver can't control it on that pace.

Cheers for ur insightful research. Btw im sure one of my 2nd hand cars will have 100k on it soon enough!!

Sounds like one way of running a car to the ground, lol 👍
Good luck with whatever it is your tryin to do though, sounds kinda interesting to see what the outcome will be.
