Hi guys, I don't know if this deserves its own thread, but I'm sorry if it doesn't! It's just too funny to not share this! :)

Interesting comments from the espnf1 website:

The curb didn't give him enough room...

Phew glad he couldn't go on after this crash, I bet he could have run into the crowd !

It was the earth´s fault, rotating in the wrong moment

Maldona-doh! doing what he does best.

I guess the surface had low grip due to all the dust covering the road, and that he wasn't just imagining Hamilton trying to overtake him at that moment.

It's probably Lewis Hamilton's fault.

"The Kerb was on old tyres- It should have let me by"
"It was an accident"
"I had no room"
"I had no front end grip"

What a (something one does with a ball)-er. *

Could I have done it? No. But come on. You're a Formula 1 driver for God's sake..

* Can you say that?

"Now, Pastor, I know this is only a demonstration, and I know we practiced this all night at 8/10ths, but I want you to go 11/10ths today."

"But I might crash!"

"Good! Because we need the publicity!"

That cameraman(?) got lucky. Though if I was him I would have pooped my pants just seeing Pastor approach.

Batter? Bowler? Pitcher? Hitter?

I think they are all AUP friendly.

Im not sure what exactly Pastor was trying to do - he was going waaaay too fast to stop, turn, or in any way avoid the kerb. Noob

These two posts I agree with; he had little grip. Nonetheless it was Pastor's fault. Maybe this 'heroes homecoming' got to his head and clouded his judgement and as a result, he completely failed to take into account the road conditions. A normal road will always be less grippy than a racetrack, and that's before you add all that dust to the equation. Honestly it was another incident caused by yet another moment of brain fade by Maldonado.

Noob? Far from it. Although he does need to calm down, engage his brain more and stop being so reckless!

Someone explain to me why this guy still has a Super License.
As 'prisonermonkeys' said he won the GP2 series which made him eligible for a super license; something which money alone cannot obtain. Make no mistake; despite his numerous incidents Pastor is a very talented driver and can be extremely fast. We've seen this not just in Barcelona, but in a number of practice and qualifying sessions throughout the season. He's been impressive in races too, up to the point where he hits something; or someone. He is very talented but to unlock his full potential he has to grow out of this destructive phase.

Lol. Why was he trying so hard in a demo? On the "demo" Pirelli's of all things.
I imagine he simply got caught up in the moment of performing in front of thousands of fans at home. Pastor tried to show off in front of them a little too much and he paid the price for it.

Because he won the GP2 championship, which automatically made him elegible for one.

He asked why he STILL has one not how he got one. You are correct in HOW he got one in the first place.

Correct.

Money cannot get you a Superlicence.

Again. Why does he STILL have a Super License. Answer = money as it does for quite a few drivers. Again you are correct about not being able to buy one. Right answer to the wrong question.

Unfortunately, no number of small "racing incidents" will strip the license holder. Only if he "does something that brings the sport into disrepute" will that happen. As with "Crashgate."

If we stripped everyone who's had more than three incidents a season, Hamilton, Massa and Vettel would be up on the chopping blocks...

The only driver I can think of who has had his licence revoked was Yuji Ide back in 2006 - and that was because the FIA felt he was out of his depth in Formula 1. Given that Maldonado is a race winner and a former GP2 champion, the FIA won't suspend his licence.

I bet Bruno Senna, could have made that corner though.

No, Michael Schumacher would have punted him into the crowd under braking for the corner.

Ricardo Londono-Bridge came close to that feat. Practiced, then the license was mysteriously revoked...much to Marc Surer's delight.

Maybe, but he can't win races. If the best thing that can be said about Senna is that he can complete demo runs without crashing, it's probably high time that Williams drop him.

Loosen up PM... Seriously, what's with you and Senna?

It may be your own opinion, and as much as we all try to respect that, but just because you don't like the guy it doesn't necessarily mean that you should constantly bash on him all the time.

Aren't the demo Pirelli's pretty sticky? I think I remember Button saying he liked them, probably because it was easy to heat them up.

Not the demo tyres, I would have thought they'd make them relatively durable and easy to spin up seeing as nearly all F1 demos feature the cars lighting the rears and doing doughnuts.
Maybe the fronts are sticky but at a guess these tyres are definitely not your standard race tyres - I'm pretty sure they're not as grippy because the idea is to prevent teams using demos as a way of testing the car.

To be honest, I don't think the tyres or the car were the problem here. This looked like it was being held on pretty rough and dusty roads with plenty of bumps. I think its more a case of Pastor being caught out by the low grip and bumpy nature of the surface rather than anything else.

He has taken points in six races out of eleven. (Pastor two out of 11) Though he is behind Pastor in total points, the time is near when he passes Pastor.
Meanwhile, it's exciting to wait and see which one will be forced to give his seat to Bottas on next season.

Pastor have had the luxury of continuity. Pastor has more raw speed than Senna, but the only reason Williams have him is because of money and it will continue to be so next year.

To be fair, Senna is probably only there because of money, as well. Just not as much.
