Paul Tracy has landed a full season drive for 2012. He will join Oriol Servia in the second Lotus/Judd at Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. An official announcement will come in the near future.

In other news about Paul Tracy, he has been crowned this years worst Twitter secret keeper. After it was officially announced he would join Doran racing at the Rolex 24, he tweeted: "Cat #1 is out of the bag #2 is waiting". He then tweeted one day later "Meetings in Chicago today and tomorrow ....... Then it's back to the Barrett .......................". One of Dreyer & Reinbold's major and long time sponsors is Dad's Root Beer, a Chicago based company.

Edit: Paul Tracy raced for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in the 2011 Indy 500 in the #23 car sponsored by Wix Air Filters. The deal to run that race was made after he signed the part season contract with Dragon Racing.

Shouldn't this go in the Indy thread? It's very rare to make a single thread about one driver move in F1, let alone Indy...

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Indycars, but it doesn't nearly get as much traffic on GTP as F1.

I remember those 2 were teammates before at Forsythe (not for long though) in Champcar. Looks like a strong line-up, I'm not so sure about the teams engine's though, Honda's and Chevrolet's will do all the winning I reckon.

Eugh. I HATE Paul Tracy. He seems like an arrogant d-bag who wasn't really very fast the few times he did race this year.

Well I'm kinda in the same boat as you, but when I went to the Toronto Indy last year, after spending a good deal of time explaining to my girlfriend why I hated Paul Tracy, I had my mind changed about him a little.

I got to meet Takuma, Helio, Bourdais and a few others. But Paul Tracy made the most effort. I didn't talk to him after what I'd said about him that day, but he really makes an effort for the fans. A lot of the others spent too long hiding away from the fans.

I felt stupid after that.

Well look where he was driving last year, a part time deal at Dragon, a team that was barely pulled together by the skin of it's teeth. Paul is a competitor, I approve of him, with the exception of the Tagliani run in. But we all know Dragon was bad last year. Scott Speed was slow with then, Ho Pin-Tung was slow with them, Patrick Carpentier was slow with them, all fully capable drivers. Can't pin it on Tracy.

Lol, I mean the guy was driving the Make-a-Wish car!

It's the "ohhhh....." moment of the guy making effort for te fans and everything an driving the Make-a-Wish car. It's the kind of TV comedy moment like where one guy hates another and then goes to their work to publicly display the displeasure and finds him collecting and packaging boxes for charity or something. Or when Danica got all pissed at Morgen Shepard at the 2010 New Hampshire Nationwide race, who is the oldest driver, nicest guy in the garage, and drives the Racing With Jesus car. I'm not tryong to offending u or anything, that's just what I saw in it.

Well obviously, I have no basis for comparison, as I've only "met" Paul Tracy once. And by "met", I mean almost bump into him, recognize him, then turn and walk away.

He did strike me as a down to earth guy though. I saw him talking to the fans and signing autographs for quite a while. I walked past Danica's car later and some kid said to his dad "Let's wait for Danica". His dad said "No. That 🤬 doesn't give a 🤬 about the people who pay to watch her race". :sly:

Yeah, Danica always struck me as full of herself and I didn't like that she had all the fans compared to the real drivers that were there based on skill and were genuinely nice guys who enjoyed the experience of being a race car driver.
