Pausing championships halfway through

Hello,
Just wondering, before I begin a championship, if it is possible to save and come back to a championship when halfway through one? I know you could do it on GT4, so would it be as simple as it was five years ago..?
 
Presumably further on in the game there will be a lot of longer championships, so how are you supposed to run through them; is it meant to be done all at once, or can you not turn your ps3 off?

... it ought to be relatively clear that you cannot exit any championship and resume it later from that point?
 
And they dont take that long either so i dont understand why just do it one by one.. the endurance lvl40 nurbugring 24hour race now there YOu can request save options hahaha :)
