Howdy gang.

I've gotten involved with my very first fundraiser. It's for the SPCA of Central Florida. The fundraiser is called Paws in the Park, and will be held February 10th, 2007 at Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando.

My whippets, Galahad and Leeloo will be joining me for this event to raise money for the SPCA of Central Florida, which shelters thousands of dogs, cats and other abandoned pets in this area.

If anyone would like to contribute to this cause, you can donate directly at our webpage, PM me here, or email me at noquarter(AT)cfl.rr.com. Anything will be appreciated.

For more info on this fundraiser, you can download the brochure here

Please note that The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Central Florida, Inc. is an independent, autonomous, private, non-profit, 501(c)(3), full-service, animal welfare organization. It is not associted with the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), the HSUS (Humane Society of the United States), nor the AHA (American Humane Association), nor any other charity, and they do not pay fees to any fundraising consultant or solicitor. The organization receives 100% of each donation.

Hmmm... Fifth element fan?

I'm in for the cause.

In fact, I'd like to see how much GTPlanet can kick in. Click this button "Make donation on behalf of an organization: on the page and type in GTPlanet.net

Cash is in.

The fundraiser was a success!

The Paws in the Park brought in over $100,000!

From the SPCA of Central Florida website:

Thanks to everyone who participated in, or helped with, the 13th Annual Paws in the Park on February 10. You all have made a very positive difference in the lives of tens of thousands of homeless dogs and puppies, cats and kitties. As of Saturday afternoon, we raised $109,196. That's alot of kibble, litter and vaccinations. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you...we hope it is extra sweet.

As of late Saturday, Galley, Leeloo & I ended up raising $595. Surprisingly, this was 9th overall for individual fundraisers. We were also part of a "pack" (The Mutley Crew) that ended up 4th overall in the Pack competition, with $1915.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that donated to this cause in Galahad and Leeloo's name. :)

It was an amazing event. There were probably >10,000 people there, surrounding the lake, and I dare say probably as many dogs. What was really amazing was how well behaved all the pooches were. There was the occasional "harsh word" (usually a little dog snarling at a big dog  ), but no fights or other problems.

Galahad & Leeloo were very popular, especially with the ladies. :D There were quite a few other whippets, as well as greyhounds (all retired rescues) and Italian Greyhounds. Just about every breed you could think of was represented, from tiny, teacup sized puffballs, to "livestock" sized Great Danes. And of course, many many Heinz 57 types, some of them as beautiful and well behaved as any purebred.

I only have one picture as of this post, but hope to have some more in the next couple of days.

Once again, Thank You everyone! 👍
