IranKhodro Paykan.
I went to Iran a couple of years ago and saw gazillions of these cars. In fact one in every three cars in Tehran are these 🤬.
So I wanted your opinion.

I guess it's a people's car so it has to be cheap and economical and all of that...but...:banghead::banghead::...IT'S ABSOLUTE GARBAGE!.

It's a people's car, it's cheap cheap and economical too... So for them YAY!! but for us here, NAY!!

I went for "Yay!". This is virtually the definition of a car as a tool, a means to simply get about. Four wheels, four or five seats, a boot, a very simple engine (the kind that can be fixed solely with a hammer) and best of all, you don't give a stuff whether you damage it or not. Plus, it's based on the Hillman Hunter, so Iran's peoples' car is something that we designed. A long time ago (1967). It's also RWD.

In that respect it reminds me of the 1950s Morris Oxford, which was produced under licence as the Hindustan Ambassador in India, a car which is everywhere over there and serves the same purpose (taxis, cheap transportation etc).

Essentially though, it's a yay because I already have a fun car, so it'd be quite nice to have a lowest-common-denominator car to knock about in and not worry about.

They stopped making these cars in '04 because of crappy tailpipe emissions. Now, Tehran smells like gasoline because of these cars. Replacing them is a car by the name of Samand.
