Hey guys, thanks for all of your input into getting my iracing career underway! As of right now I have an obutto r3volution and g27 wheel, pedals, and shifter set all set up. I also have the gpu ordered and the pc ordered as well. This is the video card ASUS Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II OC 1000MHZ 4GB 5.0GHZ GDDR5 2XDVI HDMI DisplayPort PCE-E Video Card and the pc is an intel core i5 4690k unlocked quad core 3.5GHZ/3.9GHZ processor LGA1150 Haswell 6MB cache retail. I dont know much about computers so I got a friend to build one for me. I also got a corsair cs750m cs modular 80 plus gold rate 750w 12v power supply.

Im just wondering; tv or monitor? Im planning on going to 3 monitors in the future so im leaning towards monitor as ive also heard that monitors are better grapics/better for gaming. Im looking at spending under $250 for one and moving to 3 later. Would 24" suffice or would I have to go 27"? Ive already spent a fair bit of money on the graphics so I don't want to ruin it with a bad monitor/tv. Ive heard that you need to go with 1/2 ms. All I will be playing is sim racing! Please help!

A 3rd idea, I play on an 108" Full HD projector (Optoma HD131Xe) and sitting 1,5m in front of it. Looks and feels incredibly real.

EDIT: Never tried tripple screen so I cant comment on that if it is better than an projector.

How much are peojectors? I may not have a spot to place it against a wall

Ok was just an idea. I paid 550€ but I guess they are (Full HD) about 500€ now. It is an DLP projector. Some people have problems with DLP. I and none of my friends see any rainbow effects so it is perfect for me/us.

It's better than a projector. I've played in triples and a 135 inch projector. There's no comparison. Triples are way better. Once you go triples there is no going back to a single screen. I do though like a huge single screen better for every type of game except racing and flight sims.

27s are a pretty nice size and triple monitor stands are easy to find for 27s. If you go bigger than 27 it gets much more expensive to get a stand to mount them to.

Another thing to think about is the oculus rift though. You could get a nice size monitor or TV now and just get a rift when it comes of instead of going triples. The rift is better than triples but isn't supported that well but will be when it releases next year. If you can wait until then just get one monitor now and it later.
If you don't know what the rift is just search for oculus rift online.

Ive heard that the rift is supposed to be intense so I will be waiting until then to decide to go triples or not. But for right now I still can't decide. Does anyone out there play on a single 24 or 27 inch monitor and how do you feel about it

Yep, Rift!

Will you be playing at a desk or are you getting a dedicated racing seat and stand to mount your monitor to?

If you're able to get the monitor right up against the back of your during wheel then a 27 is pretty good if it's going to be over I would say two feet away from your eyes then you might want to start thinking TV and go bigger than 27.

I have an obutto revolution so I have the full rig

I'm in a similar boat but have decided to go the rift way. I did however make a compromise and got a 21:9 29inch monitor. Wide enough to be fun for any game and cheap so I can save up for the upgrades I need for the rift

Sorry im so non-tech savy but what does 21:9 stand for? And do you play any sim racing games? Im very torn on the rift as it looks neat but really not what im into. I dont think I could go without being able to see my surroundings. Im figuring a 24" would be a bit too small for sim racing games

I would fit as big as I could possibly fit onto the obutto. In pretty sure doesn't the triple screen mount hold 32's

@Zim92 21:9 is what you see when a standard widescreen (16:9) display shows an image with black bars on the top and bottom. Usually during movie playback.

Comically, it's still nowhere near wide enough to properly display the 36:9 image that Darius uses.

The original arcade machine appears to have "stitched" together three 4:3 monitors.

I'm thinking that you will want something larger than the 21:9 monitor sizes available and smaller than the 21:9 tvs available, for your setup though.
