Hi all,

I noticed my v1 strategy guide was posted on here
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/race-strategy-calculator.268319/

but for whatever reasons it appears to of been deleted, anyway I thought I'd come on here and post the v2 i've just completed.

Here are a few screen shots.

Updates include a central data storage for car/track combos enter

  • Fuel Rate
  • Fuel Tank Size
  • Lap Times (just to record fastest for now)
  • How long each compound of tyre lasts
  • Added easier navigation for data entry

Once the above are entered all you need to do is select the car/track via the drop down list and the fuel stops are worked out for you!

I have also created the previously seen tyre wear calculator for running shorter races with multiple tyre wear selected, this is now linked into the data collection, so again you only need to add the data once.

All the above are demonstrated in the "how to" video I created, you'll also note it went really well ;)

This video didn't quite go to plan, however I have since fixed the problems. You can now add cars to the drop down lists, see "NOTES" sheet

Download
Open Office/Libre Office Version 2

*Update, now features error message when entering lap times incorrectly e.g 1;25.123 instead of 1:25.123
Now updated the data input page (sort function) vlookup function now works fully! Re-download. Fully tested and working in Libre Office.

Excel Version 2

Google Sheets Version 2
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UoTaZDAdLeXha8nqwhPqGkMtbCmpSuw9t3pzTFDZ4co/edit?usp=sharing
Now updated with lap time data input format help.

This current version is for Open Office however I will be testing a Excel version and If i can get the google sheets version to work too, i'll also add that. May take me a few weeks.

As always if you find any errors please let me know, I tested it as much as possible.

Cars can be added by replacing one you don't use in the NOTES section, then add the same car to the Data page. I'm here to assist if required.

Finally,

I've been experimenting again, I missed off the tyre compound calculator because I struggled with the formula to calculate how many stops required when the tyre wear was changed (I could work it out for x1) however I've given it further thought tonight and here is a preview.

2 examples for you

https://www.dropbox.com/s/wsuh9vu58fnpv37/Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 23.11.50.png?dl=0

https://www.dropbox.com/s/pgmc46pnm1rvsuf/Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 23.11.24.png?dl=0

I calculated the race length on each compound by adding 0.750sec per lap for soft, 1.5sec medium and 2.25sec for hard from your quickest time, multiplied by race distance 10laps or 100 laps. Then added on 1min per stop for each compound calculation. this gave an estimated race time. lowest wins. Also with adding on time per compound it gives a good target to keep too.

I have also managed to calculate the pit stop time for each compound based on fuel flow rate, the overall fuel used is the same but on each stop it's different, I have also added the amount of fuel needed for each stop too, as full tank are not required when running multiplied tyre wear.

by the way all this can be calculated by entering just the following once:

  • Race Laps
  • Fuel Rate
  • Fastest Lap
  • How many laps each compound last

Selecting car/track and tyre wear rate are selected in drop down menus.

This current feature is still in test form but thought I'd mention that it exists.

Happy to answer any questions.
