After spending some time with the new update and seasonal events, online etc. it dawned on me that PD has no idea what racing is. No A Spec restrictions, no qualifying, no qualifying options for online, or even more detailed restriction options.

In A Spec you always start in 7th and then have to move your way up, with whatever overpowered car you choose. Thats not racing. I don't know what it is.

It's such a shame, but i don't think PD will ever have real racing features and options in a GT game

So you want to use your over powered car, qualify first, then blow them away?

Set your own restrictions. If they have all 250hp cars, use your own instead of a 500hp beast.

They give you the ability to somewhat control the difficulty of the race by the car & setup you choose. If you don't want an overpowered car, don't use one.

It shouldn't be like that though. Its like playing a action game, your going through a level, and you come upon a fork. There is the "normal" way, and then there is a shortcut with much reduced difficulty and shorter path. It just doesn't happen in those games, and should happen here either.

So you want better AI?
You want to have to use the same or a similar car as the AI?
Same tires and mods?

Tell me this, and I'll leave you be: What if your requested changes means you cannot complete the game, because the new, improved AI is faster than yourself?
I believe we'll have another "I can't win this it's BS!" thread.
And then you'll be the one everybody faster is calling a whiner.

There is no "magical level" of AI where everybody has a chance, and it's still over-the-top hard.
The fact that your posting on this site means you're faster than 80% of all GT players.
If it's hard for you, what about the 79% slower than yourself?

In any action game you can choose to play on easy or hard difficulty. Here is the same, pick your car for challenge.

Do you know what racing is? No, you don't. If you need these petty things to call it racing, then you’re doing it wrong. Not all races around the world have qualifying or restrictions. It's about you, your car, and the road. Enjoy it, have fun with it. Stop worrying about the blade of grass in the haystack. Geez, these topics are just too silly. :dopey:

No, that's different again. What GT5 should have had was a easy and hard difficulty. Easy would have been like it is now for the most part, with maybe certain difficult events like the Historic Race having more lenient entry requirements. Hard would be basically the same races, but with much more tighter restrictions and qualifying.

You're right.
So why is it so hard for you to click the tab telling you what opponents you'll probably face, and then pick a challenging car?

I can't speak for you or anyone else, but I almost NEVER use a car on par with the AI, which means all the restrictions in the world wouldn't help me. (Aside from forcing me to use lower level equipment than the AI)

Its not, I try to make it fun for my self, but others might not. Its just bad game design.

You sounds like rewind addict, like somebody must force you to play fair. :)

The games are about gameplay, not about achievements or virtual credits. So why not to choose underpowered car and try to win an interesting race rather than simply do hotlapping with overpowered car?

Though I agree about AI, it's almost always turbo busted on straights and slow in turns, so it's always somewhere behind or ahead and never around, which doesn't remind real races much.

No qualifying options, how do i stop someone from using a fully tuned transmission or suspension? It's all trust based

Lol, the free run IS qualifying. Set the grid start to fastest first, and the fastest racers start first. Also, choose cars from YOUR garage. You can limit the options to any cars you want to. Just select the option "Pick from my garage".

 What a fail thread.

Name one other game company boss who races in the Nurburgring 24hr. Or one who has a fully stripped carbon fiber bodied S2000.

The game has to be accessible to everyone, not just you. All these whining threads are pathetic in my eyes we're lucky games like this even exist. It's just a game, let's worry about the real world.

I somewhat agree with the OP. The events should have hp and weight restrictions.

One of the things that made the Forza single player so boring was rewind. I thought rewind was a good idea thinking, "if you don't like it don't use it." But I was wrong.

A game must define the challenge and dare you to overcome it. If you define your own challenge then you're playing with yourself not against an opponent.

Also rolling starts is better with this AI.

But it's hard to complain on day with such an awesome update.

Not really an original complaint. Sorry. You can continue this discussion in the "disappointment" thread.
