Yep thats true. I was chatting after the race with my friends but my ps3 froze. I waited 10 minutes but nothing happened. i held my finger on the power button on ps3. Then I restarted the game and I screamed loudly: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! :( "You've received Jaguar XR13 Chrome Paint" I hate PD, ive lost hundreads of hours, more than 200 cars, hundreads of paints, ****loads of money. I'm so pissed, any tips you guys could give me? Or meaby cars you dont need? This would help me a lot. PSN: Azashke

Moving forward...copy save data to a stick every other day. What levels were you?

Anyways, it's kinda, well, interesting how often people lose their safegames, accounts or whatever on games that enable people to gift stuff to each other :sly:
 
Everytime i have a session longer than 2 hours i always back it up afterwards.

Unlucky at the game packin in though mate. i know what it's like. :(
 
The idea of having loads of time spend on a game and to find out everything is gone sucks very hard. But than again, some things in life just aint fair. And every hard lesson you get, teaches you something.

Maybe the idea of your topic teaching us we need to make back-ups, can cheer you up a little bit.

Than a lesson from me, no game is important enough to ruin a birthday or some quality time with friends/family. But time will teach you that, i hope.

Sorry for your loss. You can add me as a friend and ill donate you a nice car if you like.
 
I was lvl 27 and 24. After some time, I dont worry about the save anymore. Well I guess I'll have as much fun as I had before. I didn't think that this could happen to me, but unfortunatelly it has. I hope this will remind you people, to always back up your save data. Like they say: Better safe than sorry. Merry xmas everyone :)
 
How the hell do you guys back up?

I tried putting my save game on my external hdd but it wouldn't let me.

I tried formatting it about a year ago but it didn't work, however my flash drive is fat 32, thanks for reminding me.

Au contraire, they let you create backups. You didn't, that's on you, not on them.

You need to quit the game before doing this...

- At playstation dashboard go to the Game section.
- Put in your USB flash drive, fat32 formated hdd, SD card, or whatever compatible memory device you want to backup to.
- Go to Game Saves
- Find the game save you want to copy or backup, highlight it and hit the "triangle" button.
- Choose the menu option to "Copy" **BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL NOT TO ACCIDENTALLY HIGHLIGHT THE DELETE OPTION** click the "X" button.
- Click the X button on the USB Flash Drive or other external memory device you are using (fat32 hdd, sd card, etc...) and it will copy your game save to that device.

I am curious, I just use one of those I guess what you call a thumb drive, or flash card. It came preformated. I just put it in the USB and back up. How do I know if it is formated at FAT32? Will it not let me do the save if it is not FAT32? I did it and it saved it. I just want to make sure if I ever need to access it I can.

Or maybe I need to put it in my computer and check properties to see if it is FAT32? I am at work now so I am unsure if you can check the properties on the format of the memory stick type cards.

If the PS3 recognized your thumb drive and saved to it, then you should be fine. You can check it by putting the thumb drive in a computer. You should see a PS3 folder on the drive, another folder inside that one called SAVEDATA, another folder inside that one that contains your game save.

My GT5 game save backup is 545 kb in size.
