PD is forcing me to restart the game all over again! They are evil!

I officially hate this developer now.

I am trying to enhance my own experience and they are telling me that I'm not allowed!

I'm not going through all the details, but you're all probably going to laugh at me in the end.

Short version:

I created another email account and coppied my main save file to a new PS3 User account, along with a new PSN, so that I could restart the game using my original PSN account, then deleted the original game save and PS3 user account, so that I could switch my main PSN over to the new game.

Why? So that I could have the pleasure of replaying the game, but without the hassles of having to grind for money to be able to buy all the cars that I actually want again (gifting my own cars to myself), so that personal progress would be quicker.

But oh noes! PD or my PS3 don't want me to do that! Working towards a quicker more relaxed method of progressive play is a sin!

Now I can't load the game up on my new account. It keeps telling that the game file is already in use by another user and will have to create a new game save, which is 100% FALSE!

There is no other anything or anything on my PS3 with the same game data. Now I can't enjoy myself! Aarrrrgggh!

But guess what the funny part is... The game data size is....

666 KB!

UGH!

As sooon as I saw that number when i coppied the file, I felt something bad was going to happen.

So thats 641 game days of play, over 150 cars, level 32, and game progess all sent to hell!

Thanks PD. For providing me with an ever deteriorating gaming experience.

If anyone knows anything about this, let me know. Or just laugh and agree with PD's methods of torturing gamers.
 
You can only use the save file with the PSN account you created it with.

Bottom line is you can't copy the save file to a different user.
 
The game save file belongs to your other PSN account correct? You can not use the game save file of an account that is not the one you are currently using. Your mistake.

This 👍 It can only be used in the account on which it was originally created.


I completed the game once (bar the two a-spec 24 hour races) and just started a new from scratch, much more fun and doesn't cause issues. :)

Not true, unless they did something with the new update to disable PS3 user sharing. I've been doing this with another account with no problem until now.

Edit: Actually. I guess you're right and i haven't been using the same game data from the original account on the newer one, So I guess PD really is trying to keep us from sharing our own data with ourselves.

Thats efing lame! Still hate them, though.

No one forced you to buy the game.
 
Why would it be so bad to just create another account and start a new game with that? Why does it have to be your original account?

No, they are stopping you from sharing it with other people, it's just an unfortunate side effect that it stops you sharing it with yourself. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. Like I said, there's no reason why you couldn't have just left your primary account alone and started a new game in a new account. Friend the accounts and they can share cars anyway, so what's the big deal?
 
Yup... started out you couldn't even backup your save game short of a full system backup. They then changed it so you could back it up but unless it was from an account with no PSN attached, it would only work on the PSN it was associated with.

Put your old PSN back and you will be good to go with your save file.

Nah too late. Figured the game save was killed and deleted it. They don't tell you that its associated with the PSN it was locked to, so again... Thanks PD for ruining my experience.

I will start the game over for the third time, but all is not lost. I will just my second account and share my limited content with my new game, but I have to wait 24 before I can start the new game up to my liking, since I am not going to give into PD and be forced to spend money on a beginner car and will just send myself a car tomorrow and go from there. I don't feel angry anymore, since it can't be fixed now.

Well now I have a third PSN that I guess, I'll use for something else.

And they are evil for doing something so minutely annoying to everyone?

A real evil corporation is Exxon Mobil and Halliburton, not PD.

If anything, PD is more incompetent than evil really.

OP tries to cheat game, can't even be bothered to make a thread asking whether what he was going to do was possible (most would have told him no), and then blames PD for his own failure.

OF COURSE it wasn't your incompetence, Gran_Turismo. How could ANYTHING be your fault..?

Blame PD. They ought to have KNOWN people would want this shortcut, shouldn't they? :crazy:
 
If I'm reading this correctly, you're mad that you couldn't exploit the game to your liking. That's... spectacular.

Not really. With so many whiners creating threads blaming someone or something else for their own incompetence and user caused errors, this is most likely "misleading thread title of the last minute, or so".

What happens if you change your email address of your main account? Is your GT5 save file still tied to your main account or your old email address?
 
It's your fault entirely. You can only use a save game with the profile that created it. Lots of other (not all) games do this. Final Fantasy XIII comes to mind. If you still have the file backed up, load it to your original PSN that you deleted it from and all your cars and such will be where they were. If you deleted that, too, then that's also your own fault.

Blaming PD for this is silly. There's lots of legitimate things to blame them for, but not managing your save file properly really isn't one of them.
