Several remote races done now and at the end after the finish results a black window [ event not found ] then GT sign frozen so now credits and XP.

PD get your arse in gear and sort it.

this is every time i do remote racing.

And while i am on this why does the game freeze on load up ever since the last update it happens at least 6 times a day now black screen with the GT logo in the middle.

Anyone else having these problems ?

Im having others, like the loading time being so long that my brother can shower, get changed, come out and still the game has not started, and that's just 1 of many problems. :grumpy:

Ping your PS3. Sign of possible packet loss. Game hates even 1 missed packet. That was my problem. Bad wifi card in my PS3, was dropping about 5% even if sitting next to the router. Got an external N link and all is better.

Whats all that about.

On any network data moves in packets.

Sometimes those packets are damaged/lost due to interference or a momentary drop in connection. It seems that GT5 doesn't like this.

Make sure your network connections from PS3>Router and Router>Interwebses are rock solid.

Its not a network problem its the game constantly freezing.

Firstly... you should edit the swearing out of your OP and get a mod to edit the swearing from the title (and if you don't know what the abbreviation means then don't use it).

If your PS3 is freezing then I don't see how it's PDs problem. I didn't get a single answer on University Challenge the other evening but have no plans to sue Hitachi.

If the game is not actually freezing but IS taking a long time on 'GT5' logo screens et.al. then it could indeed be a network problem.

How are you connecting to your home network and are there any other concurrent device connections?

I appreciate your help but its not a network problem the game freezes at the black screen with the silver GT logo in the middle at least half a dozen times a day even when loading the game, i have left it to see if its slow but after an hour nothing happens the only way is to reboot the system. And its done this right from the day i accepted the 1.07 update was fine till then, and yes its a new ish machine as well 14 month old hardly used till this game was bought.

During that screen the game is talking to the PD server... consistent freezes/slowdowns at the point really ARE likely to be network connected... but let's find out.

Disconnect the PS3 from the network, restart the PS3 and do a few short races. Does the problem still occur?

Are you running directly from the disc or have you installed the game?

Did you clear the cache?

Cleared the cache and running from hard drive as did th install when first loaded.

It'll be a long job but the next logical step is to remove the game installation (backup your save! - backup your save!) and try playing directly from disc.

Then re-install.

Actually re-installing now done all the updates but now froze at 18 minutes left on the install although bottom right hand side of screen is flashing the installing logo but nothings happening i give an hour before it goes in the bin.

That install timer has been faulty since, well, the beginning of time itself.

Go and watch Loose Women or something and check back later :sly:

EDIT: When you can get the disc out hold it up to the light and look for holes - my MGS4 disc had three whoppers in it so the shop-droid changed it.

I get what you have mentioned with the lockups on load screens and extreme load times when my internet has disconnected (I'm running wireless with adsl2+) but the copper phone lines are of a very poor standard in my area due to their age and a lack of maintenance due to privatisation of the company running the network so no joy for me on this. It usually comes back after a few minutes for me along with the psn disconnected error message. I have on a couple of rare occasions had it crash permanently and needed to restart the ps3.

Fibre optic cable here and 20meg download.

i get this too, but i think i know the reason. I tend to take the disc out of the tray, give it a wipe with a cloth (not damp) and put it back in. Hey presto no issues at all.

Just my pennys worth

20meg download REALLY or is that the company figure? Check the ACTUAL downstream speed and I bet it's not that :D

Upstream could well be less than 1meg :(

Still - the speed isn't important in this case, it's the consistency.

I once played on FM3 for a whole lag-free evening using a dialup connection just to prove that connection speeds don't have to be good for a strong game connection - it's how consistently communication can take place that's important.

Im on virgin and it should be 20 meg and if i run a test its 1506 kbps down and up 980 kbps.

Check the disc for finger prints. May sound daft but I had exactly the same issue with MW2 hanging during the load process. A quick clean of the disc sorted it out.

Now heres a silly question its finally loaded and still shows all my details IE cars in garage many lost there thumbprint but still got credits and A and B spec levels but the colour of my layout has reverted back to original strange ive not loaded my backup from dongle and its not even plugged in so this install cant be right can it ?
